ST BRENDAN’S ATHLETICS DAY Year 3-6

Wow, what an incredible day we had last Thursday! The students, teachers, and community of St Brendan's worked together wonderfully to make it a very successful day. After speaking to staff and volunteers, we all agreed that the most impressive thing about the day was the way students supported, encouraged and cheered for each other. It was just incredible and so uplifting! The day wouldn't have been possible without our wonderful volunteers, including Ebony, Sarah, Lauren, Tosha, Trevor, Jess, Anthony (and his little helper Chloe), whose efficiency in record-keeping has made collating the results much easier. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I’d also like to thank all staff involved for assisting and a special thank you to Mrs Van Der Peet for assisting with both the organisation and the running trials in her own time.

BAYSIDE DISTRICT ATHLETICS DAY - TRACK - Year 3-6

I was hoping to announce the names of all students who have been selected to attend District Track events today but further trials are required in the 9/10 year old boys group and for 70 m sprints. These will be done during sport classes this week. When places are finalised, results will be available on display at the 3-6 classrooms and placed on Audiri at the end of this week. Students will then receive a letter home detailing all information. It should be a most exciting day! Your support is welcome, and if available in the morning, assistance with setting up marquees would be appreciated. Otherwise, we are hoping you are available to attend and cheer on your child. We are hoping for good weather on the day!

BAYSIDE DISTRICT ATHLETICS DAY - FIELD Year 3 -6

We had some amazing performances on Athletic’s Day. Students who are selected for Shot Put, Discus, High Jump, Long Jump and Triple Jump will be notified shortly and will represent St Brendans at District Field Day in Term 2 on Wednesday 30th of April. Stay tuned for further details!

Year 1/2 - MiniRoos Program - This week will be the last session with Shelley from Football Victoria. We have had a terrific time learning basic skills and techniques whilst playing fun games. To celebrate, we will be holding a ‘World Cup’ which should be exciting.  We’d like to thank Shelley for running such an engaging, inclusive program for our students.

Foundation - With a focus on movement awareness and games skills, fun was had by all as we used hula hoops for developing balance, learning relays, and actions like spinning and rolling. We used bean bags to develop balance, directional language, and eye tracking while tossing the bean bags in the air. Moving in varied ways (running, skipping, hopping, jumping, side-stepping, crab-walking) to music has been enjoyable for all! I am so impressed just how far our foundation students have progressed over the term.

CROSS COUNTRY and Running Club

In Term 2, on Thursday 1st of May, we will be holding our whole school Cross Country event. Zac and Abel in Year 6 have done an amazing job of organising a running club before school on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. All are welcome! Additionally, as of this week I will be offering a Tuesday before school session for any students who would like to start training for the upcoming Cross Country. In the coming weeks, all students will have a chance to train, run the track and familiarise themselves with the event.

Thank you everyone!
