Dear St Brendan’s Families,

This past week has been a wonderful celebration of our school theme for 2025—Leading and Learning with Teamwork and KindnessOur students have truly embodied these values in a variety of ways, showcasing the spirit of support, encouragement, and generosity that makes our community so special.

Frozen Junior Auditions – A Showcase of Talent and Teamwork

Our Year 5/6 students took to the stage with confidence and enthusiasm during the auditions for Frozen Junior. It was inspiring to see not only their wonderful talents but also the way they supported one another—cheering on their peers, encouraging each other to step outside their comfort zones, and celebrating each audition. We can’t wait to see this production come to life!

St Brendan’s Athletics Day – Encouragement in Action

The Year 3-6 Athletics Day was a testament to the power of teamwork and sportsmanship. From the starting line to the finish, students gave their best effort while uplifting and cheering for their classmates. Whether it was a sprint, a long jump, or a relay race, the spirit of kindness and encouragement shone through. A huge thank you to the wonderful Tallulah Peacock and our dedicated staff and parent volunteers for making the day such a success!

A Touch of Green – Supporting Childhood Cancer Research

This morning, our school community came together in a sea of green to show our support for childhood cancer research. With students and staff wearing a ‘touch of green’ and contributing a gold coin donation, we raised an incredible $375! This act of generosity is a testament to the compassion and kindness of our school community. Thank you to everyone who participated and made a difference.

As always, we are so proud of our students for the way they lead with kindness, learn with enthusiasm, and work together as a team. Thank you for your ongoing support in making St Brendan’s a place where these values shine.

St Brendan’s Staff Conference - Friday 14th March 2025

Last Friday, 14th March, the St Brendan’s staff gathered for a day of reflection, growth, and shared purpose at our annual staff conference at the Catholic Leadership Centre in Victoria Street East Melbourne.. With the theme Designing Your Self-Leadership Map, we explored the essential truth that our personal wellbeing is ultimately our own responsibility.

Wellbeing is often spoken about in broad terms, but during our discussions, we took the time to define what it truly means in a personal and professional context. We examined the pillars of personal wellbeing—physical, emotional, and mental health—and asked ourselves an important question: Who is responsible for ensuring we thrive? The answer was both simple and profound—we are.

Throughout the day, we reflected on the connection between self-care and service to others. As educators and staff, we dedicate our time and energy to the wellbeing of students, colleagues, and the wider community. But as we reaffirmed during the conference, we serve best when we, ourselves, are functioning at our highest capacity. By prioritizing our own wellbeing, we become stronger, more resilient, and better equipped to support those around us.

The conference was not only a time for personal reflection but also an opportunity to strengthen our sense of community. Through thoughtful discussion and shared insights, we reminded each other that while self-leadership is a personal journey, it does not happen in isolation. We grow best when we support and uplift one another.

As we return to our daily roles, let us carry forward the lessons of the day. Let us continue to take ownership of our own wellbeing, knowing that in doing so, we enhance not only our own lives but also the lives of those we serve. Together, as a team, we can create an environment where everyone flourishes.

Welcome New Students and Their Families.

We are delighted to extend a warm St Brendan’s School welcome to Bella Smedley and Kelsey Bertram, along with their families, as they join our wonderful school community. Starting at a new school is an exciting journey, and we look forward to supporting them as they settle in and become part of our St Brendan’s community.

At St Brendan’s, we value inclusivity, friendship, and a strong sense of belonging. We encourage all students and families to extend a friendly hello and help make our newest members feel at home. We can’t wait to see Bella and Kelsey thrive, learn, and grow with us. Welcome to St Brendan’s – we are so happy to have you here!

A Visit from Padua College Head of Campus and Three Wonderful Ex-students

We were delighted to welcome Tina Lunny, Head of Tyabb Campus at Padua College, along with three former St Brendan’s students, now thriving in Year 8. With confidence and enthusiasm, they addressed our Year 4-6 cohort, sharing insights about life at Padua, what they love about their school experience, and the key differences between primary and secondary education.

It was wonderful to see our students engage with their presentation, gaining a clearer understanding of what to expect in their next stage of learning. Parents who attended the session—and those who may have further questions—are warmly invited to contact Padua College for more information. Alternatively, you are welcome to email your questions to me, and I will happily forward them on.

I strongly encourage interested parents to book a tour and experience Padua College in action. Seeing the school firsthand is the best way to appreciate the vibrant learning environment and opportunities available.

Enjoy your week.

Warmest regards,

Sue Carr
