Hope Grows Here
Everyone occasionally does things they regret or perhaps know they shouldn’t have done, and that’s why the Sacrament of Reconciliation is so important. Commonly called Confession, the Sacrament of Reconciliation is all about healing. Remember, no matter what you have done, God loves you and is ready to forgive you. But first you need to speak to God about what happened, and Catholics do that through a ritual of confession, penance and absolution.
Reconciliation is a Sacrament of forgiveness and celebrates God’s love and mercy towards us.
Congratulations to Sena, Olivia, Nicholas, Matthew, Nate, Nalivia, Luka, and Clarissa. As a school our prayers are with you as you make this important step.
Welcome BBQ
The Welcome BBQ was a wonderful opportunity for families to connect and enjoy each other’s company in a relaxed setting. It was a delightful way for the St. Kevin’s community to come together and share a meal.
With plenty of delicious food, expertly cooked by Mr. Con, and the generous support of staff in food preparation and serving, the event was a great success.
Parents shared positive feedback and gratitude, and it was lovely to chat about our hopes for 2025. The BBQ also provided a chance for parents to socialise and meet student buddies and their families, strengthening our sense of community.
NAPLAN 2025
Last Wednesday, our Year 3 and 5 students commenced their NAPLAN assessments, and they complete them this week. The data from these assessments will help inform our teaching and learning programs and identify areas for professional development.
Results are expected to be sent to the school in May, after which they will be distributed to parents. Teachers will be available for discussions once families receive the results.
Caritas Coin Drive
Congratulations to everyone! We raised $310.25 for Caritas Australia. Please read more about this amazing initiative in Mrs Gerosolimo’s RE News.
Easter Reenactment
Holy Week is a sacred time in our Church’s calendar. It is a time we are invited to remember Jesus’ final days before he died on the cross. It is also a time to reflect on the mystery of God’s love, and how much God loves each of us.
Liturgies will be held to remember each event.
Palm Sunday: when Jesus came to Jerusalem with his disciples to celebrate the feast of the Passover (Prep)
Holy Thursday: When Jesus celebrated the Passover, his Last Supper with his disciples (Year 6)
Garden of Gethsemane: (Year 3 & 4) The importance of prayer, the need for sacrifice, the redeeming value of suffering, and love for others.
Good Friday: When Jesus was arrested, hurt, and put to death on a cross.
The Easter reenactment will take place on Thursday 3rd of April at 9:30am. This will commence on the deck outside the Performing Arts Room.
AFTER THE HOLIDAYS - TERM 2
Easter: The Resurrection (Tuesday 29th April at 2.45pm in the church) ALLELUIA! He has risen (Year 1 and 2)

Harmony Day
Friday 21st of March, we will be celebrating Harmony Day. The theme for this year is ‘Everyone Belongs!’ It is a day to recognise and celebrate Australia’s cultural diversity with respect and inclusiveness. With families at St Kevin’s coming from over 22 different backgrounds, we invite all students to dress in orange or any traditional cultural attire to show pride in their heritage and support for our diverse school community.
Persian New Year 20/03/25
Happy New Year to all our Persian Families!
Senior Manager at MACS (Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Education) Brian Grace
Welcome to St Kevin’s Brian Grace. It was lovely to meet and chat with Brian on Wednesday. Brian and I walked the Camino last year and it was great to welcome him into our school. Hopefully next time I will be able to give him a tour of the school. Principals usually meet with Senior Managers every three weeks. Senior Managers also meet with the Leadership Team once a term.
Student Representative Council (SRC)
The Student Representative Council (SRC) is one of the key aspects of student leadership in our school. The council is made up of students from Prep to Year 6. Each semester the students elect two representatives to represent their class on the Council.
Our SRC representatives will take on the responsibility of representing the views of their peers by bringing forward their ideas to discuss at our meetings. The representatives also inform their peers of any important information which affects the student body.
The council meets twice a term, with support from Wellbeing Leader Fiona George, to discuss school issues and look at ways that we can improve our school community, as well as organise school events such as fundraising events. The goal of the council is to provide students with a learning opportunity where all the representatives work democratically to make a positive impact on our school, local and wider community.
Congratulations

St Charles
Last week, Eva and I had the privilege of visiting St Charles, where we were generously gifted furniture for our school.
We are incredibly grateful for this contribution, which will greatly support our students in their learning. Michelle Verna and Lead Principal Michelle Cameron both expressed their happiness in knowing that these pieces will continue to serve students in meaningful ways. Thank you once again for this generous donation. We look forward to commemorating the legacy of St Charles by establishing a monument or plaque, ensuring that the great learning that took place there is forever remembered and respected.

Positive Feedback
An email from Carmel P.
Sorry this email is overdue. Have been meaning to email you all week. I wanted to say how well behaved the children were at Ash Wednesday Mass last week. They were a credit to you and the staff.
And a big Thankyou to you for showing great leadership before Mass - going up to the microphone and settling them into a reflective mode to enter into the liturgy...Thank you
With my thanks and best wishes Carmel
It was lovely to receive positive feedback from Carmel, a St Kevin’s Parishioner and educator. We all work so hard to ensure that the students are growing in faith, knowledge and skill. When someone takes the time to give feedback we are all so grateful for it. I shared this message with the staff and they all appreciated it.
More Feedback
Well done Jonathan (Year 6) and Mya (Year 6) for assisting with the Zooper Doopers during Inclement weather. The PFA mums spoke so highly of the respect, kindness and hard work displayed by the students. Super effort!
