Prep
The Preps have had an exciting week this week! We have started learning the green letter sounds, which includes making these letters with Playdough.
We have also finished some artwork and displayed this in our classroom and in the hallway. Thank you to Mrs Zeunert for making the Sheep and Pigs with us, they look amazing!
And we got to dress up today for Harmony Day, here are some of our outfits!

Year 1
The recent Athletics Carnival was a day filled with excitement, energy and enthusiasm as our Year 1 students gave their best in a range of fun and challenging events. From sprints to long jumps, the students demonstrated great determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship. It was wonderful to see their smiling faces as they cheered on their friends, celebrated their achievements, and embraced the joy of participation. Whether they were racing down the track or leaping into the sandpit, each student gave their best effort and showed fantastic school spirit. Congratulations to all our Year 1 students for their wonderful participation - we are so proud of you!
They have also had a fantastic time bringing their creativity to life after reading Potato People by Pamela Allen. Inspired by the delightful story, the students used their imaginations to design and decorate their own unique potato characters. Armed with potatoes, craft materials, and plenty of enthusiasm, the students carefully crafted faces, added fun accessories, and gave their potatoes personality!

Year 2
The Year 2's have had lots of fun things to reflect on over the past two weeks.
Starting with our Athletics Day, the Year 2's had an awesome time cheering one another on and giving each event their best effort (with it being a long and busy day, there were certainly moments where we played some 'dead fish' to regain our energy)!
The Japanese exchange students paid a visit to our classroom last week to perform some puppet shows! The Year 2's loved their creativeness and had a good laugh at the funny performances that the Japanese students created for us.
We have been learning about Vinny Vocabulary in Writing, so to introduce the class to synonyms we played some Synonym Scoot! Students practised using a thesaurus as they came up with synonyms for a word, and would then 'scoot' to another spot in the classroom where they would have a new word to find synonyms for. We had lots of fun moving about the room, and expanding our vocabulary.
Our mealworm investigation has also come to a conclusion this week! Each student had a mealworm that they were observing and recording the changes in a calendar. Half of the mealworms were living in a fridge, and the other half were in the classroom. We were exploring how the temperature affects the growth of a mealworm. Students discovered that the mealworms from the fridge had not changed at all, while the mealworms in the classroom had developed into beetles!
We have also spent lots of time with our Year 4 buddies! Our first buddy-time was a chance for the Year 2's and Year 4's to get to know one another. The next time we gathered, each team of buddies were given an animal and 10 minutes to create an exciting new toy/play equipment out of Lego! There were some pretty cool designs that the Year 2's created with their buddies! Finally, our buddies also helped us create our first Google Slides presentation, showing the Year 2's how to change their fonts, the colours, and insert pictures. Thank you buddies for all of your wonderful help!

Year 3
Year 3 have been learning about living vs non-living vs once living things in Science and enjoyed getting outside searching for things that belonged to each category.
Science was even more fun when we learnt about classification and used lollies to help us understand how scientists do this!
We were super proud of Luke, Chloe and Isla who were awarded age group champions for our Junior Athletics. Congratulations to you three!
Over the last two weeks, Year 3 completed four NAPLAN tests and celebrated finishing these by blowing lots of bubbles! It’s a big achievement to celebrate!

Year 4
The Year 4 class has been so excited to work with their Year 2 buddies this term! What a joy it is to watch them colaborate together and especially to see the Year 4's rise to the challenge of being the 'big kids' who set an example to their younger peers.
This week the Year 4's helped teach their buddies how to use Google Slides to make a presentation. They worked together to create a slideshow all about their buddy looking at who is in their family, what are their likes and dislikes and what hobbies they have. I was proud to overhear lots of Year 4 students calmly and patiently explaining the steps to their buddies - we have lots of future teachers in our class!
Thank you to Miss Griffin and the whole Year 2 class for such a fun afternoon.
Also, we have excitedly watched from a distance as the new sports courts were built and students have been counting down until they can utilise them. This week at the College Open Evening, our keen Year 4 Netballers, Mollie, Olivia and Alina were privileged to be part of the first game of Netball on the courts, and in our brand new Netball dresses. To say it was exciting is an understatement.

Year 5
Year 5 have had a very productive and fun few weeks of learning. We have been learning about volume and mass in Maths, as well as some of us being extended in other areas of Maths. This ended with a Burger making competition where everyone was required to make a Burger and try to get it to weigh closest to a nominated weight. The closest to that weight was the winner and everyone got to eat their Burger.
The Year 5's have also done a marvelous job at completing all three NAPLAN assessments and everyone has given their best efforts. We also got to have a good play on the new outdoor Sports Courts that were officially opened this week. They are very lovely and we particularly like the surface and nice clear lines.

Year 6
This term we have been studying the Biomes that make up Australia. The students have explored and researched each of them, where they are located and specific features that are unique to each Biome. They are currently doing an assignment about an animal from their allocated Biome. As part of that assignment one aspect is to find out any fun facts about their animal. We have shared some of those fun facts with you below.
Opal - Did you know that a Brown Snake can come in a variety of colours including black, grey and yellow, and even bright orange!?
Grace - Did you know that the Rainbow Lorikeet can travel up to 35km to find food?
Ashley - Did you know Yellow Crest Cockatoos can mimic our voices and the words we say?
Kate - Did you know that the Spinifex Hopping Mouse has eyes big enough to see in the dark?
Tyler - Did you know that the Tree Kangaroo can jump down from a height of 18m without being hurt?
Nate - Did you know that Dingoes can live in every Australian Biome except the Great Barrier Reef?
Caitlyn - Did you know that Emus have two sets of eyelids, one for blinking and one to keep dust out?
Zander - Did you know that the word Bandicoot means pig-rat, even though it is not a rat?
Nevaya - Did you know that the Lake Eyre Dragon has pale skin that reflects heat?
Luca - Did you know that Rock Wallabies have padded feet to help them climb?
We hope you enjoyed learning some interesting facts about animals from Australian biomes just like we have.

Gideon Program
Our Junior Gideon Year 3 students completed their NAPLAN assessments over the last fortnight! Congratulations on the positive and enthusiastic attitudes displayed throughout. Our Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 students have continued on working very diligently, particularly in Maths, as pictured below.
