From the Principal

Dear Yarrabing Families,
As we move into the middle of Term 4, I want to take a moment to reflect on all that we have achieved together so far this year, and to share some exciting things on the horizon as we conclude another successful year at Yarrabing Secondary College.
A Strong Start for Yarrabing Secondary College
In just two short years, Yarrabing Secondary College has built a strong and confident foundation grounded in vision, collaboration, and a shared commitment to excellence. From the very beginning, we have focused on creating a dynamic learning environment that fosters both academic achievement and personal growth. Our dedicated staff have worked tirelessly to establish a culture of high expectations, inclusivity, and respect - values that guide everything we do and define who we are as a learning community. Through thoughtful planning, innovative teaching, and strong leadership, our students have been inspired and challenged to reach their potential from their first day with us.
Equally important has been the development of a warm and connected school community. The partnerships between staff, students, and families have been central to building trust, belonging, and pride in our College. A rich range of extracurricular and enrichment programs - spanning sport, the arts, leadership, and wellbeing - has provided students with opportunities to explore their interests, develop their talents, and build essential life skills. These formative years have demonstrated our College’s ability to blend academic excellence with genuine care for student wellbeing, setting the stage for continued growth and success as we look to the future.

Our students and their families are important partners in keeping our students safe. We value feedback and ideas on how we can continuously strengthen our child safety framework.

Upcoming Events
Term 4 is always one of the busiest and most rewarding times of the year - a time to celebrate, reflect, and come together as a community.
End-of-Year Celebrations
Recognising success is a vital part of learning. In schools, and particularly in new and growing ones like ours, celebrating student achievement strengthens our relationships and builds a positive, aspirational culture. This year’s Yarrabing Secondary College Awards Ceremony will be held on Monday 8 December, 2025, in the College Theatrette. We look forward to acknowledging our students’ academic, creative, and leadership achievements, and we hope this event becomes a cherished annual tradition that showcases the incredible talents and efforts of our students. I am hoping that this Awards Ceremony will become a very important celebratory event in future and one we can take offsite to a venue large enough for us to be able to invite all our school community.
Student Activities and Wellbeing Program
In Week 10 of this term, all Year 7 and 8 students will take part in our three-day Activities and Wellbeing Program to conclude our school year. This program offers a wonderful opportunity for students to participate in a variety of recreational and wellbeing-based experiences designed to promote teamwork, creativity, and fun - all at no cost to families. Students will be able to choose from a range of on-site options, both active and reflective, to end the school year on a positive note. The final day for our students in 2025 will be Friday 12 December, 2025.
Focus on Wellbeing
As we move into the warmer months, it’s a good time to revisit the importance of social and emotional wellbeing. At Yarrabing, we continue to prioritise mindfulness, resilience, and emotional awareness - skills that are essential for success both in and beyond the classroom. We encourage students to take time to reflect, practice self-care, and seek support when needed.
We will continue to share helpful resources for families through our newsletters and website on how to support children’s mental health at home. Our school counsellors, are also available to provide information and guidance for parents who wish to learn more about supporting resilience, managing stress, and fostering healthy coping strategies in young people.
Thank You for Your Continued Support
I want to sincerely thank you for your ongoing partnership in making Yarrabing Secondary College a positive, safe, and enriching place for every student. Whether through volunteering to be a member of school council, attending events, or supporting learning at home, your involvement plays a vital role in shaping the success of our College.
As we look ahead to the final weeks of the year, I am filled with pride in what we have accomplished together and excitement for what lies ahead. Let’s continue to work together to ensure that this school year concludes on a high note - one that our students will remember for years to come.
