Keen Green Team

The Keen Green Team has been buzzing with energy this term! Our vegetable gardens are thriving, and it’s been amazing to see students getting involved; planting, weeding, watering, and watching our crops grow day by day. We all agree that there is something really special about getting your hands in the soil and seeing the results of your care and teamwork growing!

We’ve also been thinking bigger: how can we make our whole school more welcoming for native plants, animals, and insects? That’s why we’re planning to plant more indigenous species around the grounds. Native plants don’t just look beautiful, they help support biodiversity, attract pollinators, and create habitats that belong here.

Finally, as part of our learning, we’ve been exploring the Kulin Nations seasonal calendar, which shares First Nations knowledge about the natural cycles of our environment. It’s helped us understand that there’s much more to the seasons than just calling them summer, autumn, winter, and spring. By using our 5 senses, and tuning into the changes and patterns around us, we’re learning when to plant, when to harvest, when to rest, and how to care for Country in respectful, sustainable ways.
