Principal Team Report

Creating Futures Together

As we approach the halfway-way point of Term 4, there is much to acknowledge and celebrate across our college community.

Our Year 10 and Year 11 students are currently undertaking their Semester two exams. We wish all students the very best during this important assessment period, which provides an opportunity to demonstrate the knowledge and skills they have developed throughout the year. These exams also serve as valuable preparation for future studies, particularly for students moving into Units 3&4 studies in 2026. Year 10 & 11 exams conclude on Friday 14th November, followed by two important feedback days. Students will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful one-on-one conversations with their teachers to reflect on their performance and identify improvement  goals for the year ahead. Following the exam period, our 2026 HeadStart Program begins for Year 10 and 11 students on Wednesday 19th November and runs until Wednesday 3rd December. This program enables students to make a smooth transition into their next year of study by establishing routines, building relationships and getting a head start on the learning that lies ahead. Years 7 to 9 classes will continue as scheduled during this time.

We also look forward to celebrating our Year 12 students at the Valedictory Dinner on Friday 21st November - a special occasion marking the completion of their secondary school journey and acknowledging their achievements and contributions to our school community.

The College Presentation Evening, held on Thursday 4th December in the Bunjil Centre, will be another highlight of the term. This event recognises outstanding student achievements across all year levels and provides an opportunity to come together as a community to celebrate the successes of 2025.

Please note that Friday 5th December is a Professional Practice Day and will be a student-free day. The final day of formal classes for Years 7 to 9 is Friday 12th December, with Middle School Activity Days taking place from Monday 15th to Wednesday 17th December. A range on-site and off-site activities will be available for students to sign up to. Compass events for offsite activity consent and payment will be released in the week beginning 10th November.

Finally, I would like to acknowledge the positive improvements in student attendance across the college this year. At the time of writing this report, our proportion of students with 20 or more days of student absence for the year was 38% compared to 65% at the end of 2024 – a significant improvement. An improvement we aim to sustain, as best as possible, for the remainder of the 2025 and also further improve in 2026. We believe this improvement reflects the connectedness to school students experience along with the consistent commitment by the College and families of the importance of students being at school. As mentioned in previous reports, ‘every day counts’ related to students attending school and remains one of the most important factors contributing to learning success and students achieving their outcomes.

We look forward to seeing our College families at the events over the remainder of the year, and again, encourage you to attend our Presentation Evening as recognition of our students.
