All Things Hub

On Monday, 13 October, our Principal Mrs Debbie Cottier, Wellbeing Support Person Jemma Hamzah, and I were invited to the launch of the Heart Safe Community in Springvale campaign. Alongside Ambulance Victoria, the Heart Foundation, and many other organisations such as Victoria Police and the Country Fire Authority, we came together to support and empower our local community with the important message that 75% of cardiac arrests happen at home. It is vital that we all know the Call–Push–Shocksteps, as they can save a life. In the event of a cardiac arrest emergency, please call 000 first. Next, push firmly on the chest to perform CPR. Finally, shock if a defibrillator is available, turn it on and follow the voice instructions. We are excited to be partnering with Ambulance Victoria in 2026 to deliver as many of these lifesaving sessions as possible to our Springvale Rise school community.

Recently we have also been fortunate to welcome a special guest speaker from The Centre for Culture, Ethnicity and Health, who delivered a powerful presentation on Healthy Minds, Healthy Relationships, focusing particularly on the topic of consent and what it means. The women had a wonderful time exploring this important topic and discussing how we can feel empowered to have these conversations with others and young people.

Meanwhile, at our Heights Campus, we celebrated Diwali in playgroup. Parents and children had a wonderful time decorating their own paper plate diyas, painting beautiful firework artworks, and reading a Diwali story that shared all the wonderful traditions of this festive time of year. We ended the session with a joyful morning tea, where parents brought dishes to share with one another.
