This semester students on Springvale Campus explored with various textile, modelling and printing techniques in artmaking.
FLC students experimented with textiles, modelling and printing materials to make imaginative art inspired by literature including Elmer the Elephant, Spiro, and the Indigenous story Echidna and the Shady Tree.
They changed the shape, texture and colour of modelling materials to create three-dimensional art and have experimented with printing materials to produce mono prints.
JLC students participated in textiles, modelling, printing and painting units. They used simple threading and weaving to stitch linear patterns. The students explored with the qualities of different modelling materials to produce three-dimensional models. They discussed and used printing techniques, created symmetrical stencils, printing blocks and used elements of shape and colour to express their ideas in print making. The students were inspired by Indigenous artwork, cultural festivities.
MLC students focused on the use of artmaking skills and processes in the area of textiles, print, modelling and construction. They used textile weaving looms to create yarn dolls. MLC students discussed the physical properties of various modelling materials, used coil and bonding techniques to make three-dimensional coil pots and models. In print making, students explored with art elements and used printing techniques to produce imaginative monoprints.
SLC students planned and made art using textiles and modelling techniques and processes. They used slab modelling techniques and solved problems associated with the changing properties, texture and form of terracotta clay to make three dimensional cylinder pots and pendants.The students explored fabric dyes, tie dying and colour fasting fabric techniques to design a personalized calico tote bag.
Noble Park Community Art Show 2025. SLC participated in the Noble Park Community Centre Art Show 2025. Our school exhibited a display featuring student art works from both campuses for which each student will receive a 2025 Art Show of Participation certificate.
We are proud to announce that Hy Ly and Esuen Soo have been nominated for the $50 Mitchell Encouragement Award 2025.
Springvale Lunar Lantern Display 2026
SLC and MLC students participated in a workshop held on both campuses to create imaginative lanterns for installation during the Springvale Lunar New Year Lantern Festival 2026. They used drawing materials to create visual art that communicated their ideas on the celebrations.
Mulgrave Electorate Christmas Card Design Competition
MLC students from both campuses were invited by the MP Eden Foster, to participate in the 2025 Christmas Drawing Competition. They created inspiring artwork to go in the running to be featured on this year’s Christmas card. The winner of the competition will have their festive design professionally printed and featured on the 2025 Christmas card, sent to all households in the Mulgrave Electorate. We wish them well with their entries.
