Student Voice : Springvale Campus
Welcome to Term 4 week 6! Time really does fly by when you're having fun doesn't it? This week has been full of exciting events and special moments for our SLC students! We've had the Art Incursion, the FLC excursion, and even a girls Basketball Clinic, which everyone really enjoyed. On top of that our Year 6 students have started preparing for their graduation, whilst our year 5 students have been busy working on their speeches to be in the first group of leaders. It's such an exciting time as we get closer to the end of the year, there's so much to look forward to and celebrate together!
This week was filled with knowledge and thinking as we began PAT testing. PAT testing is when students are tested in Reading and Mathematics to see how much they have grown through the year. It is also useful for teachers to use to pinpoint where individual students are in their learning journey, identify their strengths and weaknesses and specific skills they need to learn next. This week we have completed Reading, next week we will be diving into Math. Remember to get a good night’s rest and come to school freshly prepared for PAT!
Our upcoming Foundation students have started their transition sessions, and it’s been wonderful seeing them get ready for primary school! Parents also joined information sessions to learn more about the exciting year ahead. The children had a fantastic time playing with playdough, cutting shapes, exploring the home corner, and enjoying a cooking and tea party. Their favourite activity was creating self-portraits, such a fun and creative way to celebrate themselves! We can’t wait to welcome our 2026 Foundation students next year!
Our Foundation students recently enjoyed a wonderful excursion to Chesterfield Farm! It was amazing to see their bright smiles as they explored, petted the animals, and learned about farm life. The highlight of the day was getting to milk and feed the cows an experience that filled the students with excitement and curiosity. It was a fantastic hands-on learning opportunity, and everyone returned with happy hearts and unforgettable memories!
This week, some of our students from each class had the exciting opportunity to take part in an art incursion! They spent the session designing and decorating their very own colourful Lunar New Year lanterns, using different materials to make each one unique. The students showed amazing creativity and focus, proudly sharing their beautiful creations with friends and teachers. It was a fun, hands-on experience that encouraged imagination, teamwork, and artistic expression and everyone had such a great time! Their amazing artworks will be displayed around Springvale next Lunar New Year, so keep an eye out!
Recently, our Year 5 & 6 girls took part in a super fun Basketball Clinic, and it was such an awesome experience for everyone involved! We were lucky to have two amazing coaches come in and teach us some new skills and techniques. They showed us how to bounce a basketball through our legs, let us play a quick basketball game that involved collaboration and teamwork. Everyone enjoyed playing friendly games, cheering each other on and giving it their best effort! A big thank you to our SLC teachers for organising such a great session!
Our Year 6s have been busy with graduation planning, getting everything ready to make the day really special. From writing speeches to organising gifts and certificates for the ceremony, everyone is putting in lots of effort. It's exciting to see all the hard work coming together as we get ready to celebrate the achievements of our final year of primary school!
As we wrap up another busy and exciting week, it’s wonderful to reflect on all the amazing learning experiences and special moments happening across our school. From excursions and incursions to sports clinics and graduation preparations, our students continue to shine in everything they do. With only a few weeks left of Term 4, there’s still so much to look forward to as we celebrate the growth, achievements, and joy that make our school community so special. Let’s keep up the great work and finish the year strong!
