Maths Olympiad Awards

This year, selected Year 5 and 6 students proudly represented St. Joseph’s in the 2025 Maths Olympiad, a nationwide problem-solving competition designed to stretch students’ thinking and build a love of mathematical challenge.
The Maths Olympiad is not a test of speed or memorisation. Instead, it encourages students to think creatively, apply strategies, and tackle complex, non-routine problems that often require persistence and deep reasoning. The purpose of the Olympiad is to develop mathematical problem-solving skills, build confidence and inspire students to see mathematics as something exciting.
We are incredibly proud of all the students who took part this year. They approached each round with determination, curiosity and a wonderful sense of persistence. Every student competed extremely well and should feel very proud of their achievements. Today they were awarded their certificates.
A special congratulations goes to Max, Callum and Spencer who scored in the top 10 percent of participants across Australia. This is a remarkable accomplishment and a testament to their hard work and strong problem-solving skills.
Well done to our whole Olympiad team for representing our school so brilliantly. We look forward to competing again next year.
