Junior Hoop time Basketball Regional Finals
On Wednesday 12th November, the Junior All Star Girls and All Star Boys teams represented our school at the Hoop Time Regional Finals held at the State Basketball Centre.
It was an exciting start to the day. Not long after arriving, the entire venue was evacuated due to a false fire alarm. Fortunately, our teams made the most of the unexpected break, meeting professional basketball players from South East Melbourne Phoenix, who were training at the centre.
Throughout the morning session, both teams played five round robin games (2 x 8-minute halves). Each team performed brilliantly, finishing third overall in their pools and advancing to the afternoon finals.
In a thrilling boys’ final against Beaconsfield Upper PS, the game came down to the wire, with our team narrowly missing out by just one point. The girls’ team faced Heathmont East PS in another close match; despite strong teamwork and determination, their opponents managed to pull ahead, resulting in a 7-point loss.
A huge thank you to Lilly Dawson for coaching, Mr Justin Meath for assisting, and Mrs Jodi Haddrick for managing the boys’ team. For the girls, thank you to Mr Scott Edgcumbe for coaching and Mrs Emily Collie for managing. Special thanks to all the parents who came along to cheer and support our teams.
