Harvey Represents Queensland at the School Sports Australia Games
Recently, around 1,500 students from across Australia gathered in Ballarat, Victoria for the School Sports Australia Games, an exciting national event for 10–12-year-olds. The town was buzzing with colour as students proudly wore their state uniforms and competed in a range of sports.
Queensland was well represented, with over 60 talented swimmers selected based on their outstanding performances at the state championships earlier this year and our very own Harvey was among them.
Harvey was chosen to swim the breaststroke leg in the Queensland B Medley Relay Team, which finished fourth and impressively lowered their entry time by two seconds. The following day, the swimmers enjoyed a well-earned break at Sovereign Hill, exploring the historic gold rush site, a perfect tie-in with a Year 5 HASS unit.
On Wednesday, Harvey was back in the pool, competing in the individual 50m breaststroke. His personal goals were to make the final and record a new personal best. Harvey produced!! Making the final and earning a new personal best time of 43.03 seconds. Finishing 6th in Australia...... IN AUSTRALIA. WOW!!!!!
What an incredible experience Harvey. The chance to build new friendships, race against the best swimmers in the country and see the sites of Victoria, is a great reward for the hard work, and determination you have put in for a long period of time.
A big congratulations from the Ironside State School community.
