Dear Families,
What a great week 6! We’re now halfway through the term — time is flying by. Students have been working hard and showing great focus as we continue with a few more assessments to check in on their learning progress. The second half of the term is always a busy one, with lots of exciting events and activities coming up. We look forward to celebrating students’ achievements and enjoying the weeks ahead together.
Athletic's Day Your child will now have their house colours for Athletic's Day. Please check with them as they are able to wear their house colours or their sports uniform.
Friendly Reminder: Please ensure your child is in the correct school uniform and has their name on items that come off and on during the day. This includes jumpers and jackets. We have a lot of lost property at school to check if needed.
Christmas Carols: Below is the song we will be performing. If you could practise at home, that would be great!
This week we learnt about:
Religious Education: In Religion, we learnt about the importance of Remembrance Day and why we take time to honour those who have served and sacrificed for our country. Students reflected on the values of peace, gratitude, and hope. We also participated in our school’s Remembrance Day service, showing respect through prayer and silence.

Mathematics: In Maths, we have been learning about location and mapping skills. Students have been exploring how to read and follow maps, use directional language such as left, right, north, south, east, and west, and describe the position of objects.

English: In English, we have been reading The Stone Lion by Margaret Wild. Students have been exploring character development and discussing how the main character changes throughout the story. They have also been practising writing from the character’s point of view, imagining what it would feel like to be in the Stone Lion’s position and expressing thoughts and emotions through their writing.

Auslan: We are doing unit 8 in Auslan which looks at different zoo animals.

Social & Emotional Learning: In Social and Emotional Learning, we have been exploring stress management. Students are learning what stress means and how it can feel in the body. They have identified different situations that might cause people to feel stressed and discussed a range of strategies to help manage those feelings, such as taking deep breaths, talking to someone they trust, or taking a short break to calm down.

Integrated Studies: In Integrated Studies, we have been learning about kindness and community. To show appreciation to the Grade Ones, students created lion masks and wrote messages of love and encouragement. This activity helped us celebrate the idea of caring for others and strengthening connections between our school communities.
