Media Arts

Grade Three & Four Media Arts
The focus for learning in Term Four Media Arts has been to 'explore where, when, why and how media arts are created and distributed across cultures, times, places and other contexs.'
Our initial learning in this area has led to us investigating genre. What makes a film a particular genre, and can films cross multiple genres?
Students have investigated 'genre conventions,' and have been using this principle to consider the themes, settings, characters, and story lines which inform a movie's genre.
The next area of learning in this area will lead us to consider cinematic techniques. Cinematic tecniques are the elements such as lighting, sound, and shot type which can help the director communicate the film's intentions to us, the audience.
Students will analyse film clips and the use of lighting, sound, and shot types to interpret the intended meaning.
It has been a pleasure teaching and learning with the Grade Three and Four cohorts this year. I feel so grateful for the energy and enthusiasm they have brought to the subject of Media Arts.
