Reflecting God's Love in our School

At Good News Lutheran College, we believe that every day is an opportunity to show God’s love through our actions and interactions. Celebrating grandparents and special friends this week for Tarneit P-2 students was our opportunity to honour the incredible contributions and love that grandparents bring into our lives.  (Note ... Mambourin P-2 Grandparents and Special Friends Day will be held in Term 4.)

Grandparents and Special Friends Day is more than just an event; it’s a celebration of family, love, and the important role grandparents play in nurturing and guiding our young people.

As I somewhat patiently await the joy of grandparenting – I tell myself that I have over 1000 grandchildren! Like our grandparents, I get to share their joy, their curiosity and their wonder and to love who they are unconditionally. And like you, we can send them home to their parents at the end of the day!

I hope that I can be as good at grandparenting as mine were. As the eldest of 6 children, I usually found myself staying with one of my grandmothers when a younger sibling was coming into the world or was unwell! I learnt how to crochet, cook, garden, collect bottle tops and shells... all the things busy parents did not have time for.

Our students worked hard to prepare for the day; performing some songs and showing what they are learning in class.

Let us continue to carry forward this spirit of love, respect, and gratitude in our daily lives, and be thankful for our grandparents, not just this week, but always!
