Curriculum Matters
Foundation
On Thursday 22 August Foundation students made their way back to school at 5pm in their pjs for a night filled with fun and laughter.
We enjoyed a delicious dinner (thanks Subway!), played on the playground and were in awe of the magic tricks by Fairy Twinkletoes!
We finished the evening listening to Mr. Oakey read a story.
“I liked the magic” - Harris
“My favourite part was listening to the story” - Gabby
“I liked when the wand turned big and curly” - Caleb
“My favourite part was eating the cookie” - Grace
“Fairy Twinkletoes was so crazy! She didn’t even notice the bunny was going out of the hat!” - Arya
Level 1
Level 1 students have been busy exploring both inside and outside play.
During SEL sessions and Developmental Play, the students have shown many of the following skills as they have navigated through a variety of play situations working together in teams:
- Problem-solving skills — Problem-solving and strategizing are built into team activities. Since students can’t complete these exercises on their own, they have to work as a group to reach a solution.
- Creative thinking — Team building activities are a great way to help students think outside of their box. By grouping students of different backgrounds and experiences, everyone is exposed to new thoughts and ideas.
- Verbal communication skills — Communication doesn’t just mean knowing what to say. It’s also important to develop listening skills in order to effectively work together.
- Resilience — Many team-building activities aren’t completed on the first try. Having to try and try again to solve a problem builds a student’s resilience.
Level 2
Our Level 2 students have been busy learning how to write information reports on animals!
They've been exploring different species, gathering facts about their habitats, diets, and unique characteristics. Through this process, the students are developing important research and writing skills, while also learning lots of fun and exciting facts about animals. It's been amazing to see their enthusiasm and creativity as they bring their reports to life!
Level 3
This fortnight Level 3 were lucky enough to have a visit from Tim Mason, the magician. The students absolutely loved the show and have been excellent critiques as they practise their review writing. The pros from their reviews most definitely outweighed the cons, and Tim Mason received plenty of 5 star reviews!
We definitely recommend that you go and watch Tim Mason’s magic show.
Level 4
Congratulations to Maggie for representing the Victorian Team in the National Cross Country competition, where the team secured third place!
The Level 4 students celebrated Maggie's achievement with a party in her honour. We also extended our thanks and congratulations to Mia for being Maggie’s support person throughout the day.
Additionally, the Level 4 students had the opportunity to visit Jells Park Preschool as part of our transition program. They enjoyed interacting with the preschoolers and are looking forward to seeing them again in Term 4.
Level 5
On Tuesday the 27 of August Level 5 had a long trip to Werribee Zoo.
It took just over an hour to get there and everyone was eager to explore the Zoo.
We all split into 8 groups and even did a workshop about adaptation and the safari tour where we learnt about the fascinating animals. Some of our favourite animals from the safari tour were the giraffes, the hippos and the rhinos.
In the adaptation workshop we saw and felt different skulls and bones of different animals like the lions, the wild dogs and the zebras. Afterwards, we all sat down near the trees and ate our lunch.
Because we had 8 groups, 4 did the safari tour while the other 4 groups did the adaptations workshop. For our final hour, we had a little time to explore the zoo.
Finally, after the big day at the zoo, we hopped on the bus and returned back to school. We all loved the adventure and learnt heaps about the adaptations of different animals.
My favourite part of the day was seeing the adorable Meerkats.

Level 6
On August the 27 the Level 6 students travelled to Monopoly Dreams in Melbourne Central. After half an hour of waiting on the bus and a short walk through the city, we finally arrived.
We got special booklets to record special landmarks that we noticed throughout the journey. Some of the activities that we had to take part in were: list Melbourne landmarks and their importance, drawing Mr. Monopoly, designing our own interactive room inspired by Melbourne landmarks & creating our own Monopoly note.
We even got to experience what is was like in Mr. Monopoly’s office and we learnt the history of the game Monopoly and how it’s developed over the years.
We also did some fun activities like a laser maze, a 4D cinema where we looked at lots of Melbourne landmarks, a money catching booth and some fun carnival games where we earned prizes. Some of the games were, a jail decoder, a human powered electricity game, a digital game where you had to fix the city's pipes and much more.
As a reminder of this fun excursion, we got to take home a personalised title deed card with our name on it! We all had such a good time visiting a life sized Monopoly full of fun.

Father's Day
Last week, our Level 6 classroom was filled with laughter, creativity, and teamwork as we welcomed some very special guests—our students' Fathers and Special Guests!
The morning was packed with engaging activities that brought out the best in both the students and their dads. It was a memorable day that celebrated family bonds and collaboration.
The day began with a coaster-painting session, where students and their dads worked side by side to create unique and colourful designs. From abstract art to meaningful symbols, each coaster was a reflection of their teamwork and creativity.
Next, we shifted gears to some hands-on fun with LEGO building. Fathers and children teamed up to construct racecourses for our school Bee Bots. It was incredible to see the creative ideas and the shared effort that went into each creation.
The excitement continued as everyone geared up for an obstacle course challenge. Dads and students navigated through various hurdles and stations, cheering each other on every step of the way. It was great to see the camaraderie and energy throughout the course!
Finally, the day wrapped up with a lively Kahoot quiz. The competitive spirit was high, but it was Hannah B and her dad who triumphed, taking home the win! Their teamwork and quick thinking were impressive, making for a perfect end to the event.
It was truly a special day filled with smiles, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
We are so grateful to all the dads and guests who joined us, making the day one our students will remember for years to come!
