Wheels 4 Wishes

What a fantastic day we had at our Wheels 4 Wishes day.

The buzz and excitement as the whole school community came together on the oval and the chaos that was close to 600 kids and adults with bikes, scooters and walking shoes had us wondering what were we thinking. But 2 things came to mind at those times, if Sean Bell can run 14,500km around Australia through searing heat and category 3 cyclonic winds then surely we can pull this off. AND of course we are doing all this to help wishes come true for really sick kids who have so much struggle in their lives. Thanks to everyone who got involved or helped out on the day and well done to all the kids who accepted the challenge and took part- many outside their comfort zones.

At the time of writing we have raised over $7500 and you can still donate over the weekend. When you combine this with the Easter Egg raffle earlier in the year it is well over $10,000 for Make A Wish.

Congratulations to the many Level 6 leaders and broader student base who had such a massive part in making this day, including the Wishes day back at school, a huge success. A particular thank you to Athan, Oscar and Matt who were the original drivers of the ideas and who mapped out our riding courses. (although I have my doubts over the 11km distance 🙂)

Well done Jells Park Primary School Community!!

On Thursday the 5 of September JPPS did a wheels for wishes to raise money to help  kids in need. We got to choose between a 2.5km, 11km and 32km ride. When we got back, we did our wish activities which involved mindful colouring, Stem games and more! Then the day got even better, we got to have SUBWAY lunch! Thank you  Mr. Jenkins for organising this event and all the parent helpers for helping with the ride.

Yesterday was an exciting day, we got to participate in an event where we raised money for Make a wish foundation. We could either walk 2.5km, 11km ride or 32 km ride. I went on a 2.5km walk. I enjoyed chatting with my friends while walking along with them. Also it was great to have a break at the park. During session 3 and 4 we got to do activities in other classrooms, I enjoyed doing the level 6 sports on the oval the most. It was a great day.

The Wheels for Wishes ride was fun and exciting. There were a few challenges like some steep hills and riding with so many people. I went on the 11km and I really enjoyed it as it was a big challenge for me.

The 32 km bike ride was a long and exhausting ride. My legs were really sore but in the end it was worth it because it was really fun. Lots of hills were hard to go up but fun to come down.  I would definitely do it again and I hope we got lots of money for the Make a wish foundation.

On the 5th of September, everyone got to dress up in blue and get a lunch order from Subway. Students could choose to walk, scooter and bike 2.5 km but for the 11 km and 32 km, you had to bike because it was such a long distance. The reason we did all this is was the school was raising money for wheels for wishes. After everybody walked or ride, students got the chance to do a bunch of activities like parkour, watch movies, do arts and craft, Lego mindful colouring and more. After our wish time, we got a chance to buy popcorn and lollies. It was a fun day although a lot of students were tired, they having a blast at the end of the day every student had at least one highlight.
