STEM
Grade 2 and SC1 Sustainability Activity
This week the Grade two and SC1 students will be making a bee. To make their bee students, will need an empty food can or soft drink can. Please make sure you bring in a can with your child's name and grade on it for this week.
Nude Food Friday
On Friday Miss Middlin will be running a Nude Food competition. This competition is aiming to promote sustainability across the school. Nude Food is simply food that is not wrapped in foil, plastic or commercial packaging. On Friday selected students will be allocated a time to survey classes to see how many have brought Nude Food to school. The class with the most students with the most Nude Food will receive the new Nude Food Trophy. Last week’s winners were 4JD!
Every fortnight we will be having a STEM question for students to answer. The questions will be posted in the school's newsletter. These questions will not be compulsory, but will be a bit of fun and a challenge for students. Students can write their answer on a piece of paper and place it in the appropriate box inside the STEM room. At the end of the week Miss Middlin will do a lucky dip and select one student from Prep- 2 who will receive a small science related prize. Last week’s winner was Thomas from Grade 2. This week’s question is found below.
What is the theme for National Science Week?
National Science Week.
This week at Buninyong Primary School we have been celebrating National Science Week. So far this week students have been completing activities during class time and during lunchtime clubs. Yesterday, the STEM Extension students learnt how to use Spike Lego as part of their project on protecting the oceans and marine life. Students explored the Lego and how it works. Once they have a knowledge of how the technology works, they plan on making a model of a robot that can clean up pollution and a machine to stop coral bleaching.
