Photographing, Filming & Recording Students - Reminders for Families

A reminder to all parents/carers and other members of our school community:

  • While we allow parents to capture moments from school events (e.g. sporting events, etc.), we ask that anyone photographing, filming, or recording students does so in a respectful and safe manner.
  • Please ensure that images of students are not publicly posted (e.g., to a social media account) without the permission of the relevant parent/carer(s).

Please note: Recording or photographing will not be allowed inside the theatre at our upcoming school concert. We encourage you to enjoy the show without the distraction of devices.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and respectful environment for all students.

Bunjil Awards

Congratulations to the following students who received a P-2 Bunjil Award at last week’s assembly.

Bunjil awards recognise student achievement and those who display our school values of being respectful, responsible and kind.

Well done! All of our recipients enjoyed a hot chocolate or zooper dooper with a principal (and our Student Principals!)

Student Principal for a Day Reflection

Last Friday, our Student Principal for a Day participants - Luka, Mina & Seth - had an action-packed experience, fully immersing themselves in the daily responsibilities of school leadership. They kicked off the day by attending and presenting at assembly, followed by classroom visits and observations. They took on yard duty, made announcements, joined a planning session with our teachers, and even had access to the coveted gym code! A special treat for them was attending the staff morning tea—an event that isn’t a regular occurrence – and eating their lunch in the staffroom. They also got a behind-the-scenes look at our CCTV system and lent a hand with recycling, among many other activities.

Throughout the day, they worked closely with our principal team—Mr Bernie Conlan, Mrs Narelle Sullivan and Mrs Nicole Phillips—gaining valuable insights into the work that goes into making our school operate.

It was an absolute delight to see their enthusiasm and engagement in embracing the role.

Opportunities like these not only give our students a taste of leadership but also inspire them to take on more responsibilities in the future. Due to the level of interest, we are planning on making this an annual event.

Here’s what our student principals had to say:

Luka:

Principal day

I enjoyed being principal because we got to do heaps of the stuff that principals do. I enjoyed everything about the day, but I loved seeing how hard the principals work to make it a great place. I learnt that if you’re principal you have a lot of work and you have to get it done by a certain time. I was surprised by how much work they do; they do stuff about the concert and stuff like that, and they also have fun!

Kind Regards, Luka

Mina:

I loved principal day because I got to see what a principal does. The part I enjoyed the most was speaking at assembly. The hardest part was writing this. We visited a few classes to see what they were learning about. Another job I participated in was yard duty. I also enjoyed morning tea in the staff room, which was delicious! Looking at the CCTV cameras was so fun, especially seeing the mysterious black cat. The other student principals and I had lots of laughs during the day. I loved everything about being a principal and the day I had.

Seth:

Here I will answer a few questions about my experience as principal for a day.

Q: What did you enjoy?

I enjoyed most of it, but my favourite was morning tea because I got to eat anything I wanted! That included 5 donuts!

Q: What is something you learnt?

I learnt how a day is in a principal’s shoes.

Q: What was something you found challenging?

Nothing was too difficult for me.
