The Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary – Holy Day of Obligation (Thursday 15 August)
On Thursday 15 August, the College will celebrate the Feast Day of the Assumption of Mary. Throughout the day, year groups will attend Masses to celebrate this significant feast day. Mary was an inspiration for Edmund Rice and the Christian Brothers, and she continues to play a significant role in our lives today for she is the true embodiment of faith. Let us be more like Mary and bring Christ to those around us.
Prayer for the Assumption of Mary
Father in heaven, all creation rightly gives you praise,
for all life and all holiness comes from you.
In the plan of your wisdom she who bore the Christ in her womb
was raised body and soul in glory to be with him in heaven.
May we follow her example in reflecting your holiness
and join in her hymn of endless love and praise.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen

Thank you
After six weeks of recovery since my surgery, it was wonderful to return and reconnect with the vibrant St Pius X community. During my time away, I deeply missed the interactions with staff, students, and parents. My recovery is progressing well, though I still have a long journey ahead before I regain full strength. I would like to take this moment to express my gratitude and commend Ms Watson and Mrs Greenwood for their exceptional leadership of the College in my absence. Thanks to their guidance, along with the unwavering support of the College Leadership Team and the dedicated staff, the College has continued to thrive in both teaching and learning, as well as in various key events on the calendar. I am sincerely thankful to the entire community for their kind wishes and support, especially those who assisted me immediately after the surgery. Please understand if I am unable to attend all upcoming College events as I continue to focus on regaining full health.
Trial HSC Examinations – Week 2
The Trial HSC examinations have been progressing well with many students pleased with their responses to the challenging questions of the trial papers. Please continue to pray for all our Year 12 students as they conclude (for most) their last official school-based assessment.
Prayer for Year 12 Students
Dear Lord, we ask for your blessing for our students
undertaking Trial HSC Examinations over the next two weeks.
Grant them the confidence they deserve from their years of diligent study.
Grant them the ability to comprehend questions and effectively plan
and articulate their responses.
May they be enriched by the gift of the Holy Spirit – Wisdom,
Understanding, Fortitude and Knowledge.
May their faith and piety give them the strength to face these examinations and the satisfaction of achieving their personal best.
We ask these things through Christ Our Lord, Amen.
P & F Trivia Night
The Annual P&F Trivia Night is scheduled for this Saturday 17 August. If you have not booked a table or a seat, there is still time to register and enjoy a very delightful evening. I am hoping to be present to share in the fun and games. Thank you to Eoin Geaney and the P&F committee for their organisation of this community event.
A Celebration of Learning Assembly
On Thursday, 1 August, the College celebrated the outstanding academic achievements of many of our young men at the annual Semester 1 Celebration of Learning Assembly. Although I was unable to attend, I am confident that all the students showed the utmost respect in recognising the remarkable accomplishments of their peers. It’s important to remember that while St Pius X provides an environment conducive to learning, it is up to each student to open their hearts and minds to the endless learning opportunities the College offers. True personal achievement is reached through a partnership between students and teachers. Congratulations to all our award recipients and let us all continue to strive for academic excellence in our own unique ways. Thank you to Mr Davidson (Assistant Principal – Teaching and Learning) for his organisation of this most significant event.
Following is a list of those students who received an award at the ceremony.

Last weekend marked the end of the regular Football season. Congratulations to all teams for their dedication and commitment throughout the season, and special congratulations to those who have advanced to the finals.
As the Rugby season approaches its penultimate round against Kinross Wolaroi, I have been delighted by the exceptional performances in my absence. Let’s continue with the same strong performances this week and next, aiming to finish the season on a high note.
Our Tennis teams have also concluded their season. Unfortunately no teams are advancing to the finals however I give congratulations to all teams for their efforts over the past two terms. We hope to have much to celebrate on Monday following these final matches.
As our winter sports draw to a close, our athletics team kicks off its season this weekend. Hopefully, the Olympics have inspired our athletes. We wish them success in achieving their personal bests this week.
