CELEBRATION OF LEARNING

In the final week of term on Wednesday, September 18 (5:00-7:00pm) we have the Celebration of Learning.

The Celebration of Learning is always a very popular event on our school’s calendar and is a wonderful opportunity for you to come along and get an insight into what your child/ren are learning at school.

All classroom spaces as well as specialist areas will be open for students to lead their families through to share their learning. Tracey and her team in the canteen will also have the BBQ fired up along with other snacks and drinks also available.

Swimming Dates

The swimming program commenced this week for Prep, Grade one and Scotsburn students. Year two and three students will take place in the final week of term and Year four -Year 6 students will participate early next term.

The cost of the program (including transport) is $57.00.  The event requires consent and payment via Compass and is visible already for all Year two and three families.  For all Year four-six families, the event will be accessible in your Compass portal later this week.

STEM SHOWCASE

Today, students from 10 schools gathered in the gym to show what they can do with 3D design.

1 group of students from each of the year 5/6 and Scotsburn classes was selected to represent BPS at the event.

Makers Empire is a 3D software company whose program supports the teaching of Design Thinking and STEM with 3D.

Our STEM teachers, Ms. Middlin and Mr. Smith were successful in receiving a grant that has enabled our school to have access to the software, receive a 3D printer along with access to professional development for our STEM teachers. Participating schools also receive access to a space-themed challenge course, which our students have been working on.

Today was an opportunity for students from the participating schools to showcase their work, skills and talents and present their peers from other schools, along with other key stakeholders.

As today’s newsletter was being published, we had some very exciting news about the results of a group for our school were the major winners for the stem showcase today.  Those students are Zara S, Piper S, Ivy D, Lily P and Milla C.

They will be heading to the national showcase in Adelaide in November, which is very exciting!

Well done to all involved and we look forward to sharing more news about this in the coming months.
