Inquiry

Building on our earlier work in the term about the Olympics, students were invited to design their own mascot. We talked about things that represent Australia and after choosing an idea, made a plan of how to make it. During the planning stage, students were able to request special materials to make their final mascot, for example, cotton balls, felt for fur, shiny paper, etc. Students were then asked to write the steps they took to plan and make their mascot. 

Once our mascots were completed, we began a four week Inquiry unit about safety. We have talked about road safety, fire safety, being safe on the computer (cyber safety) and bike/scooter safety. 

Some of these topics were integrated into our writing sessions and students were encouraged to write about their understanding of the concepts discussed.

We hope Dad and Pop enjoyed receiving our Father's Day cards as much as we enjoyed making them for you. We also hope they had a nice time with the family last weekend.
