(hello, welcome)

Literacy

This term, to deepen our understanding of historical events, we are reading the novel Once by Morris Gleitzman. Each week, learners will have the opportunity to practice one of six different Literature Circle roles. Our goal is for learners to actively contribute to Literature Circle discussions and rotate through various roles, each designed to enhance their comprehension and engagement with the text.

Numeracy

This week, we embarked on our journey into multiplication and division. Though some learners were initially hesitant, they quickly embraced the challenge with a growth mindset. We've been delving into the relationship between multiplication and division, focusing on sharing totals into equal groups and understanding how this translates into multiplication facts, repeated addition, and division facts.

Next week, learners will begin applying their expanding knowledge to problem-solving tasks, such as calculating the area of spaces and tackling word problems.

Faith

This term, we've started exploring scripture and how we can apply its lessons to our lives, striving to live as Jesus did. Our journey began by examining the different parts of the Bible, and what better way to do this than through a fun and engaging game of Spoons, using Bible sections instead of traditional playing cards. This interactive approach made learning enjoyable as learners then collaborated to organise these sections in the correct order, deepening their understanding of the Bible's structure.

 Mary MacKillop Feast Day

Yesterday, we enjoyed a wonderful celebration alongside our friends from St. Mary’s Rushworth. I’d like to applaud all our readers and learners who stepped up to volunteer during the Mass. The level of reverence and respect shown by our learners was remarkable.

Well done, everyone! ♡

Learners mingled with St Mary's during a variety of  activities, such as playing traditional 'old time' games, designing stained glass windows, collaborating on a portrait, and a walk-and-sketch inspired by nature and Mary MacKillop.

History: Curiosity and Change

This term, our theme is Curiosity and Change, with a focus on History.

History invites us to be curious and explore how things have evolved over time.

Over the past two weeks, we've begun igniting that curiosity, discovering which aspects of history captivate us the most. Learners engaged in a provocation activity where they drew upon knowledge from novels, informational texts, and picture books to create small objects that tell a larger story.

Next week, learners are invited to bring in an small object that tells a story of their History. These objects will be used for an experience where learners will explore and predict what the history is behind the object.
