What's Happening in the F/1 Classroom?
This fortnight we have focussed on the /s/ sound. We began by focusing on words and names we knew that had an /s/ sound at the beginning and then progressed to finding words with /t/ as the middle or ending sound, using visual assistance from Soundwaves.
The students are now diving deeper into sequencing as they prepare to create their own personal timelines. This activity will help them understand how to represent time on a linear scale, allowing them to visually organise events in their lives in chronological order. By focusing on sequencing, students will develop a clearer understanding of how events are connected over time, laying the groundwork for more advanced concepts in time and history.
This week, we celebrated Book Week with a series of exciting events! Students enjoyed group read-alouds, participated in an inspiring session with the fantastic illustrator Freya Blackwood, and engaged in creative whole-school craft activities. The highlight was our wonderful book week parade, where everyone showcased their favourite characters. It was a fantastic opportunity to share our love and enthusiasm for storytelling. What a memorable and inspiring week!
