GATE Visual Arts – A Busy Start to 2026
It was a pleasure to welcome our highly motivated and focused cohort of 35 Year 7 students, along with a number of Older Years entry Visual Arts students, into the program. The Year 7s brought great energy and curiosity as they spent the term exploring printmaking, completing still-life drawings that were then translated into prints.
Students across Years 8–11 responded with strong engagement to the diverse range of workshops led by our accomplished tutors. These included armour design, creative jewellery making using pulp, functional ceramics, still life and mixed media, aerosol painting, and digital illustration.
Students participated with abundant enthusiasm demonstrating their fabulous creative thinking and art making skills.
Their efforts resulted in some fabulous artworks, which will be showcased later in the year at the art exhibition.
We also conducted Gate Older Years testing and ASET testing this term. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen weather conditions, the Year 7 testing for 2027 has been rescheduled to May 2nd.
We hope all students enjoy a well‑deserved and restorative break and look forward to seeing the outstanding work they will produce in a busy and rewarding Term 2.
