Junior and Middle and Senior Level Leaders Report

End Of Term 1:

Year 7 and 8 Leader Report

As we conclude Term 1, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all Year 7 students on completing what is often the longest and most demanding term of the school year. Transitioning into secondary school is a significant step, and students have demonstrated commendable resilience, responsibility, and commitment to their learning.

As we move into the holiday period, students are encouraged to take time to rest and recharge in preparation for the cooler months and the continued academic expectations of Term 2.

Student Achievement and Recognition

We are proud to acknowledge the achievements of our students at the recent Year 7 assembly. As a cohort, students accumulated an impressive 907 HRRRT points, reflecting consistent demonstration of our school values: High Expectations, Respect, Responsibility, Resilience, and Teamwork.

Many students were also recognised with Bronze Certificates, marking an excellent start to their secondary school journey. We extend our congratulations to both students and their families for their ongoing support.

Student Leadership – SRC

We look forward to the upcoming Student Representative Council (SRC) voting. I would like to thank the students who have taken the initiative to practise their speeches—this has been a valuable opportunity to build confidence and public speaking skills. We are excited to see the outcome of the voting at tomorrow’s assembly.

Important Information for Term 2

As we begin Term 2, families are asked to note the following:

  • Students are required to wear the green school tie as part of the academic uniform
  • School photos will take place early in the term (further information will be provided)

Student Organisation and Communication

Families are reminded of the importance of maintaining strong organisational habits:

  • Please ensure that your child’s planner is checked and signed each week
  • Mentor teachers will also review and sign planners weekly

Establishing these routines early is essential for student success. If you notice that your child’s planner is not being signed by their mentor teacher, please contact myself or the Director of Students.

Upcoming Learning Opportunities

This week, students will participate in the Digital Thumbprint incursion, which focuses on promoting safe and responsible online behaviour. This is an important component of our student wellbeing program.

Walkathon and Community Contribution

We will conclude the term with our school walkathon. We are extremely proud of the efforts made by our students in raising funds to support the Royal Children’s Hospital School. This initiative reflects the strong sense of community and social responsibility within our Year 7 cohort.

Holiday Learning

During the holidays, students are expected to read their class novel, Coraline by Neil Gaiman, in preparation for Term 2 learning.

Thank you to all families for your continued support throughout Term 1. We wish all members of our school community a safe and restful holiday period and a very Happy Easter.

We look forward to welcoming students back for Term 2, refreshed and ready for the next stage of their learning

Year 9 and 10 Leader Report

“Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.” – Robert Collier

Through hard work and commitment, we’ve reached the end of Term One.

I’d like to acknowledge our students for the way they’ve approached the term—setting expectations for themselves and working consistently towards them across their learning, behaviour and interactions with others.

It was particularly pleasing to hear the feedback from students following their Morrisby Survey interviews. Many spoke about how valuable the process was in helping them better understand themselves and begin thinking about future pathways—often ones they hadn’t considered before.

We now look ahead to receiving the results of the recent NAPLAN testing, which students completed over the past few weeks.

I’ve been encouraged by the effort students are making to take greater responsibility for their learning, and I thank parents for the support you continue to provide from home. As we move into Term Two, our focus remains clear—punctuality, correct uniform, and consistent attendance. These are small things that make a big difference.

The term break is a chance for students to pause, reflect, and reset before we begin again. I look forward to welcoming everyone back and continuing to support our students in achieving their best.

Wishing all students and families a safe and enjoyable break.

Year 10

As we come to the end of Term 1, I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the outstanding efforts of our Year 10 cohort. It has been a highly successful start to the year, and I am incredibly proud of the way students have approached their learning, demonstrated resilience, and contributed positively to our school community.

I would also like to sincerely thank you, as parents and caregivers, for your ongoing support. The strong partnership between home and school plays a vital role in student success, and it has been evident throughout the term. Additionally, I would like to acknowledge the collaborative work of our Middle School Level Leaders, whose consistent guidance and support have helped steer students in the right direction both academically and personally.

Looking ahead to Term 2, there are some important opportunities and experiences for our Year 10 students. A key focus will be Work Experience, which provides students with valuable insight into potential career pathways and the expectations of the workplace. We strongly encourage all students to begin preparing and engaging with this process, as it is a significant step in their transition beyond school.

In the first week of Term 2, students will also attend an excursion to the Holocaust Museum. This will be a meaningful and educational experience, supporting their understanding of history, empathy, and the importance of respect and inclusion.

Thank you once again for your continued support. We look forward to building on the success of Term 1 and continuing to support our students in achieving their goals.

Year 11 and 12 Leader Report

Year 11

We would like to thank the Year 11s for their hard work and determination to achieve their best in Term 1 - what a great start to the Year!

As we head into the term break, we encourage all Year 11  students to make the most of the upcoming Skyline Hatch Session and holiday recommendations resource. This has been designed to help you stay motivated, maintain momentum in your studies, and prepare effectively for Term 2 SACs and assessments.

The session will support students in making the best use of the Hatch portal, including how to begin upcoming Areas of Study, revise key concepts from Term 1, reflect on study habits, and set clear SMART goals for the term ahead.

The resource also includes practical study tools and app recommendations to help you stay organised and manage your workload effectively.

Just as importantly, the recommendations emphasise the importance of rest, balance and wellbeing over the break. Taking time to recharge, sleep well and engage in activities you enjoy is an important part of setting yourself up for success next term.

We strongly encourage all senior students to engage with the Hatch portal and use the holiday period as an opportunity to prepare confidently for a strong start to Term 2.

We wish all students a happy and safe break!

Year 12

As we reach the end of Term 1, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our Year 12 students on what has been a very positive and productive start to their final year. It has been fantastic to see how well students have settled into their classes, routines, and expectations.

A highlight of the term was undoubtedly the Year 12 Jacket Presentation. It was a special occasion that celebrated our students’ journey and leadership within the school, made even more meaningful by the involvement of our Year 7 students.

As we move into the holiday break, it is important that students take time to rest and recharge but also use this period wisely to stay on track with their studies. We encourage all students to:

· Develop and follow a study schedule

· Revise key concepts from Term 1

· Complete any outstanding coursework

· Begin preparation for upcoming SACs in Term 2

A reminder that at the beginning of next term, students will transition to full winter uniform. Students are required to wear their school blazer; however the Year 12 jacket may be worn as an additional item. When representing the College in the community, the blazer must be worn.
