Principal's Message

Dear Applecross SHS Families,
It has been a pleasure to meet with all year groups during Core classes to introduce myself and reinforce key messages around our values, the importance of student voice, making the most of opportunities, and seeking support when needed. These sessions have also provided a valuable opportunity to experience the unique spirit of each year group and appreciate the differences across our cohorts.
This week, I have experienced Applecross SHS students embracing two meaningful initiatives: Harmony Week and the World’s Greatest Shave. At these events, they have demonstrated both their strong sense of community and their commitment to making a difference.
During Harmony Week, students celebrated the rich cultural diversity of our school through a range of activities that promoted inclusion, respect, and belonging. It has been wonderful to see students proudly recognising and sharing their backgrounds while strengthening connections with one another.
In support of the World’s Greatest Shave, many of our students have also stepped forward to raise awareness and funds for those impacted by blood cancer. Their willingness to participate, fundraise, and in some cases take the brave step of shaving or cutting their hair reflects both courage and compassion.
We are proud of the way our students continue to engage in opportunities that build empathy, celebrate diversity, and contribute positively to the wider community.
I sincerely thank our families for nurturing and supporting young people who demonstrate these values and a strong commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others.
I would also like to acknowledge the strong commitment of our School Board and the school’s P&C, including its sub-committees. I am already confident that, together, we can achieve great things for the Applecross SHS community. This confidence comes from the shared dedication, experience, and genuine care I have already seen in action.
I look forward to meeting and speaking with families at the Parent-Teacher Interview Day in Week 9, on Wednesday, 1 April.
Enjoy the sunshine!
