French

Prep
The Prep students have been comparing France and Australia and learning that French originated in France. We have been exploring French landmarks using GoogleMaps, zooming out from Moriac and travelling across the globe to Paris and other French major cities. They have been sorting out images of typical Australian things and French things, such as koalas, wombats, baguettes, The Eiffel Tower, croissants, vegemite and the Sydney Opera House. Students have all been showing a wonderful understanding that French originated in France, and that France is a different country to Australia.
Grade 1/2
Students in grade 1/2 have been learning vocabulary for classroom objects. We have been playing language games to reinforce this learning. Below are the words we have been learning over the past few weeks.
Grade 3/4
Students in Grade 3/4 have been finishing up their unit on food and cooking. We have been studying recipes in French, and students have also been writing their own recipes in French and English, using the vocabulary that we have been learning this term. The students will all have the opportunity to cook some brownies following a French recipe this week, 3/4C were able to do their cooking this week, and 3/4A and 3/4B will do their lesson next week. Bon appétit!
Grade 5/6
Students in Grade 5/6 have been learning about French numbers. French numbers are very different to English numbers between 70 and 100, they do not follow the same pattern that numbers 1-69 follow. To reinforce their learning of French numbers, students have been completing some group work where they have been given 500€ to spend and they are writing their totals in French and in English. Students have been enjoying this activity and I look forward to their finished work next week!
Happy holidays to everyone, stay safe and enjoy yourselves!!
Bonnes vacances à tous!
