Prep

Well, we can not believe it! We have almost finished 2 whole terms of school. We are so proud of everyone and wanted to say a massive thank you for your support this semester!

Only one more week to go and then HOLIDAYS!

Please see below what we have been up to in the last few weeks!

Alphabet Party

What a day that was! It was so much fun to see the students dressed up in costumes representing different letters. Check out our costumes below!

Literacy

In Literacy, we have been learning all about Information Texts. We created our own books about a chosen animal. We continue to challenge ourselves, to record each sound we hear in unfamiliar words. The students drew and labelled their pictures and produced quality pieces of writing. We are very proud of the interesting facts our students were able to share!

Next, we moved on to Procedural Texts. Students have been following how-to texts and creating their own. We have covered topics such as how to blow up a balloon, how to make pizza, how to draw, and how to brush our teeth.

We have also been practising our reading. We continue to read our decodable books again and again to develop our fluency. Students are beginning to read whole words at a time and sounding out words when they are unsure.

Please, continue to practice the high-frequency words at home with your child. This will support them when reading their books independently!

Maths

Over the past few weeks, we have been building our understanding of numbers and ways to make different numbers. Students have partitioned numbers (e.g. 7 can be partitioned into 3 and 4), and we have even begun adding numbers together to create new numbers.

We have also explored daily events and how to organise them in order from when they occur throughout the day. Students have been discussing what events happen at different times of the day.

Wellbeing and Humanities

We have been exploring what it means to be proud and celebrating things that we are proud of about ourselves. We have continued to discuss the weather where we live and how it changes at different times of the year. The students have explored what makes a good community and some key parts of a community. Check out some of the maps we made below!
