Term 2- Week 10

Term 2 Overview

As we come to the end of the term, it’s a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the learning and experiences from the past 10 weeks. Our students at Moriac have enjoyed a rich balance of learning, growth, and fun. With majority of assessments now complete, it’s fantastic to see the progress being made and the dedication of our staff reflected in the achievements of our students.

5/6 Production

Our Year 5/6 students performed a wonderful production at Grovedale College last night. It was a fantastic reward for the hard work that our senior students, alongside our brilliant Performing Arts teacher Jared 'Smithy' Smith has put into their classes this term. We thank all of the Year 5/6 families for attending and making this a very memorable evening.

Under 12's SSV Victorian AFL Team

We would like to extend our congratulations to Archie from 5/6 on his outstanding achievement of being selected to represent Victoria in the Under 12’s SSV AFL Team. Archie’s selection is the result of a rigorous trial process, where he competed against exceptionally talented players from across the state. He will now travel to Maroochydore, QLD, to play in the Championships commencing August 3rd.

What an incredible accomplishment! We are extremely proud of Archie and wish him all the very best for the tournament.

CATS/Reports

Next Wednesday 2nd of July all student Semester 1 Reports and Common Assessment Tasks (CATS) will go out to families on Compass.

We would like all student reports to be a real celebration for all the hard work they have done over the first half of the term and would like to congratulate them all on their success!

Please keep an eye out for the Compass post letting you know when all reports will be ready for viewing.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Early in Term 3, We will send out a compass post and let families know when the booking system will be open to book your time to speak with your child's teacher for interviews/conferences.

A few reminders:

Late arrivals

Please ensure ALL students who arrive after 9am sign in at the office. This will prevent absent SMS messages being sent to families when not required. Thank you for your support and diligence with this.

Before school supervision

Just a reminder that students who are playing on the playground before school must be supervised by a parent, as our supervised area is the top half of the school grounds.

Student Attendance

Please make sure you notify us of any absences your child has either via phone, via your child's teacher or straight onto the Compass app. This helps us to track any un-explained absences at school and if there is anything we can help families with. In addition, if you are planning on taking extended family holidays during a term, you are required to let us know in writing as I may be required to put extra things in place or notify the department to ensure all children are accounted for. Thanks in advance with your support of this as student attendance is something our school is starting to focus on more as we know that long term absences can impact a child's learning in many different ways.

Thanks Erin
