Classroom Snapshot-

Year 3 Snapshot

This term, Year 3 students have been reading about human body systems and the senses. They have participated in several writing activities related to the nervous system, the muscular system, and the human brain. Learning about the brain has captured the interest of many students.

During a brainstorming session, they were asked to record everything they knew about the brain. Below are some of their ideas:

  • The skull protects the squishy brain.
  • The brain is the control centre of everything
  •  It is in charge of everything we do.
  •  It helps us move our muscles.
  •  The adult brain weighs three pounds or around 1.5 kilograms.
  •  The cerebellum is like the autopilot of a plane.
  •  The brain is connected to the spine by the spinal cord.
  • The brain is pinkish grey.
  • The brain is wrinkled like a walnut.
  • The brain has left and right hemispheres.
