St Joseph's, Quarry Hill is a child-safe school.   We promote the safety, well-being and inclusion of all children.

Pastoral Wellbeing

                          Whole School Procedure

Over the past week, all classes have discussed the Child Friendly Safeguarding Code of Conduct

This is an important document that is mandated in every Catholic school to help keep children safe and respected.

At St Joseph’s we strive to keep students safe during their time at school and follow our Behaviour Policy to ensure that there are consequences if rules are broken or not followed.  We encourage all students to:

  • Treat others how they want to be treated

  • Speak up if something is wrong

  • We’re all here to make sure school is a safe place for everyone

  • Please take the time to read over the document and discuss student rights and responsibilities.

Behaviour Curriculum Knowledge Society

Over the next few weeks, the teachers will be involved in Professional Development though the Magnify Program with Knowledge Society.  This Professional Development is centered around the Classroom Mastery Program which has been developed to:

  • Manage student behaviour to maximize learning in the classroom.

  • Explicitly teach behaviour.

  • Develop a Behaviour Curiculum.

Managing behaviour is about maximizing learning, developing calm and orderly classrooms and creating explicit expectations for children to follow.

Whole School Reward

Students receive gold coins when positive behavior is noticed by staff.  Staff acknowledge the behaviour and students are rewarded with a gold coin.  The PBIS Team have set a target to be reached and when it is reached, they will have a whole school reward.  Coins are building and the reward is not too far away.  Stay posted!

Child Safety

At all times, the ongoing safety and well-being of all children and young people will be the primary focus of care and decision-making, with particular attention paid to the most vulnerable children, including Aboriginal children, children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds, children with a disability, children who are unable to live at home, international students, and students of diverse sexuality.

To create and maintain a safe environment and nurturing culture, CES Ltd and St Joseph's Primary School will actively and continually develop and review all policies, processes and practices, informed and responsive to legislation and evidence.
