Message from the

Principal

Dear Families,

Firstly, thank you for the effort and attention that has been given to the school uniform and for wearing the right uniform on the right day. I know this can be a battle, but the results have been fantastic.

What a term of learning the staff of St Therese's has had. We began the term with three days of learning about how the brain works and its implications for the craft of teaching. Over the past two weeks, we have completed the first round of Classroom Mastery Drop-Ins, observing teachers using the cue to start and entry and exit routines. Teachers are reporting that their classrooms are calmer, allowing for quicker starts and fewer interruptions, which supports a positive learning environment.

Tomorrow, we welcome the MultiLit Team, who will spend several hours with our Foundation-Yr 2 teachers and leadership team observing, offering feedback and answering questions. This session should be valuable for all participants.

I would like to congratulate and thank our teachers and support staff for continuing to embrace these changes, deepen their understanding of pedagogy, and challenge themselves to be the best they can be for the children in their care.

Welcome to Winter! We currently have a high number of sick students and staff. Please be mindful of sending your children to school if they are unwell.  We all recover more quickly when we rest and stay warm.

Enjoy the long weekend.

Congratulations

I would like to inform our school community that Kim Carter, our Deputy Principal: Learning and Teaching, has accepted a position at Catherine McAuley College as a Leader of Humanities commencing Term 3.

We wish Kim all the best and thank her for all she has done for the St Therese's school community. Kim's amazing organisational skills and ability to problem solve on the run, will be missed!

Gabby Walsh will move from Senior Leader: Learning Diversity and Inclusion to the Acting Deputy Position for the remainder of 2025.

We will start the appointment process for the Deputy Principal in Term 3.

Again (with a little sadness), we congratulate Kim on her new position and will say goodbye and acknowledge her contribution to St Theres's more fully later in the term.

Message from the School Advisory Council

To the St Therese's School Community

We hope this message finds you well. This week's council meeting featured an important agenda item regarding the removal of the Lowndes Street school crossing. This week, the school received correspondence from the City of Greater Bendigo regarding our ongoing concern about the removal, which poses a threat to child safety. Unfortunately, the response has not satisfied our expectations to improve the safety of the new Wombat crossing.

Due to the overwhelming response from our school community and Lowndes Street residents, the issue has now been escalated to our governing body, Catholic Education Sandhurst Limited (CESL). The primary concern is the safety risk and the likelihood of serious injury, the removal of the crossing poses, particularly during peak times.

The Council, along with school leadership members Petra and Kim, will continue to support CESL in any way possible to lobby for a resolution. We want to extend our thanks to everyone who has raised their concerns. We truly have a wonderful and engaged community, and we will keep you updated as this situation progresses.

 Sincerely

Michael, Phalen, Jess, Julia, Marcene, Amanda and Ebony

Thank you to the School Advisory Council for their ongoing support of all school initiatives, and in particular, the School Crossing issue.

2026 Foundation Enrolments

2026 enrolments have now closed. Our strong enrolment trend has continued and is looking very positive for 2026. Thank you again to our Year 6 leaders for their participation in school tours and to the Leadership team, Kim, Gabby and Marica and the Foundation team, Bethany, Mel and Grace, for all their work in this space.

Principal Lighthouse Awards

This week's recipients are:   Lenny and Xavier

Thank you for your kindness and empathy in organising our 'Touch of Blue' day to raise funds for MND and for the professional and polished 'pitch' to the Leadership Team.

Supervision Hours (Repeat)

Please note the schoolyard is unsupervised before 8:30 am. There are still many, many children on the grounds prior to this time. For the safety of your children, I am asking that they are not dropped off at school before 8:30 am.
