Education Week Open Morning - Thank you for visiting us

It was fantastic to see so many community members visit us as a part of education week last Monday. We had over 130 family members spend time in our classrooms, learning alongside students and experiencing school life at BNPS. We are proud of the work we do and are excited to share all we are working on. We hope that events like these build the connection families have with our school; we know the closer we work together the better the outcomes we achieve for our students.

Whole School Acknowledgement - Right Place, Right Time

Following some great conversations with our student leaders, collaboration with the SWPBS team, and a close look at school data, we’re excited to launch our new whole-school acknowledgement focus: 'Right Place, Right Time'. This is one of the key ways our students can show our value of Responsibility across all areas of the school.

This focus is all about supporting students to be where they need to be, when they need to be there — ready to learn, participate, and engage in a positive way.

Being in the right place at the right time means:

Making great choices about where to be so we can learn, play and connect with others
Using spaces in ways that help everyone feel safe, included and ready to do their best
Using our time in ways that are positive, purposeful and help us reach our goals

We are already well over 100 acknowledgements of right place, right time. When we get to 500 we will celebrate with another whole school event.

Reconciliation Week

Next week we mark reconciliation week, a special time for all Australians to learn about our shared history and to celebrate the culture and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander peoples. It is an opportunity for our community to think about how we can work together to create a fairer, more respectful future.

The theme for 2025 "Now, More than Ever" is a reminder of the ongoing journey towards reconciliation that we all have a part to play in. Teachers and students will engage in activities that explore how we can work towards this goal together.

Working Bee May 31

This Saturday the school will be holding a working bee, from 9am in the morning to the early afternoon. Our grounds sub-committee have been working hard on our aim to continually green our school grounds, with significant planting projects planned for later this year. This coming working bee will focus on preparations for this planting. The jobs we aim to complete are:

Removing the wooden crates from the orchard garden area
Mulch the Sheffield street boundary in preparation for planting
Re-filling the Pearson St and Albion St sand pits
Re-staking the larger tress in our native gardens

Working bees are always great community events, with many a friendship formed over a wheel barrow of mulch or while pulling out weeds. We hope to see you there.
