End Of Term 2:

Over the past few weeks, students in Years 7 to 9 have been actively preparing for our upcoming House Athletics Carnival, which will be held on Tuesday 22nd July.
During PE classes, students have been practicing a range of track and field events, including relay, high jump, shot-put, discus, long jump and more. This preparation not only helps students refine their technique but also builds confidence and enthusiasm ahead of the big day.
A reminder that official sign-ups for the Athletics Carnival will take place on Thursday 3rd July during Period 2. Students are encouraged to sign up for multiple events and represent their house with pride. If you happen to miss the official sign-up session, don’t worry — there will still be opportunities to register for events on the day of the carnival.
In the meantime, when the weather hasn’t allowed for outdoor athletics training, students have been engaging in fun and challenging team-building activities indoors. It has been fantastic to see the Year 7 students fully immersing themselves in activities like the Cross the River Challenge, which encourages teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. Their enthusiasm, cooperation, and positive attitudes have been a highlight of the term.
We’re looking forward to an exciting and successful House Athletics Carnival, and we hope to see as many students as possible getting involved and showcasing their athletic talents.

Teamwork - Cross The River Challenge
The photos below depict three classes of Year 7 HPE students participating in a minor game.
During this activity, the students were supplied with vague instructions and with this limited information, required to organize themselves in whatever way they deemed most appropriate to achieve the desired outcome.
The purpose of this lesson was to provide students with a platform to develop their agency and problem-solving skills through metacognitive strategic engagement and collaborative reasoning.
Individual skills and traits such as leadership, teamwork, sportsmanship, and initiative were demonstrated at an impressive level, especially by some students who would otherwise be expected to disassociate or withdraw.
