Intermediate Badminton
On 4th of June, our Year 7 and 8, girls and boys team proudly represented the school in an interschool badminton competition against teams from Wellington Secondary College and Brentwood Secondary College.
Our players showed strong skills, focus, and teamwork throughout the match. The games were fast-paced and highly competitive, with long rallies and some impressive shot placements from both sides.
Despite their best efforts and some very close sets, our team was unable to progress to the second round. The matches were tough, and the competition brought out the best in everyone.
Even though we didn’t advance further, the students should be proud of their performance and sportsmanship. They represented the school with great attitude and determination, and we’re looking forward to coming back stronger next year!
Well done to all players involved!
On Wednesday, 25th June, 24 enthusiastic Year 9 and 10 students proudly represented our school in the Intermediate Badminton competition held at Monash University.
Competing as five separate teams, the students embraced the day with energy, teamwork, and determination.
All players gave their best effort, and many teams celebrated individual and doubles match wins throughout the event. The day was filled with great sportsmanship and positive spirit, making it an enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
A special commendation goes to Banmeet Sadana from Year 10, the top player in our A Team.
Banmeet delivered an outstanding performance, winning all but one of his singles matches. His skill, focus, and sportsmanship stood out and set a fantastic example for others.
Well done to all our players for representing the school with pride!

Boys
On Wednesday , June 4th, South Oakleigh College sent year 7 and year 8 soccer teams to compete at Monash University.
Congratulations to all year 7 and 8 students who attended on the day. Our teams were highly competitive, with progression to the regionals coming down to the last game.
Despite a convincing win, South Oakleigh’s year 7 team was knocked out via goal difference.
Fortunately, South Oakleigh’s year 8 team secured a place in regionals through their sweeping victory. There were many standout performances on the day, however, a hattrick from Eli Ongarezos in the final game thrust South Oakleigh’s year 8s into pole position.
In preparation for regionals, where South Oakleigh will compete against the likes of Rowville Sports Academy, our year 8 team continues training in earnest.
The Year 9/10 boys soccer team put in a strong and courageous performance at the Monash interschool tournament, pushing through freezing rain and hail. We started the day with a 2-0 loss to Brentwood but quickly bounced back with a solid 5-1 win over John Monash. In our third match, we faced Wellington in a tight and physical game.
The boys fought hard and came away with a 1-0 win, showing real determination. That victory took us to a penalty shootout to decide who would go through to the final. Unfortunately, we narrowly lost in penalties, which meant we went on to play John Monash again in our final match, where we finished strong with a dominant 5-0 win.
Despite just missing out on the final, the boys showed great character and teamwork, proudly finishing 3rd overall.
Netball News
Intermediate Netball
The girls junior netball teams delivered a commendable performance, securing 4th place overall in the competition.
Their hard work, teamwork, and determination were evident throughout the tournament, and they showed great sportsmanship and skill against strong opponents.
Although they missed out on a podium finish, the experience provided valuable lessons and motivation for future improvement. The team should be proud of their efforts and continued growth.
On Wednesday the 25th of June the year 9 and 10 girls competed in netball for interschool sport. We played 4 games throughout the day but unfortunately it was a very tough competition for us.
We fought every game to our potential, but the wins weren’t going the way we had hoped for, this didn’t stop us from giving it our all, supporting and encouraging each other throughout the day.
Overall, the day was great, and we did what we could, which is all that mattered at the end of the day. Estelle C - Year 9
