Learning in Year 2

ENGLISH

This term in Grade 2, we’ve been diving into persuasive texts—and having a lot of fun along the way! Students have enjoyed lively discussions around big questions like, “Is Summer better than Winter?” and “Should kids be allowed to stay up late?” These conversations have sparked some fantastic thinking and creativity. Our budding writers have been learning how to express their opinions clearly and convincingly. It’s been wonderful to see their persuasive writing skills grow, and they’ve produced some truly impressive (and persuasive!) pieces. We’re so proud of the effort and progress they’ve made!

MATHS

In our daily Maths sessions, students have been building their skills in the four key processes: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. They’ve been exploring different strategies to solve problems and using hands-on materials to support their understanding. One of the highlights has been the engaging maths games we’ve introduced to make learning both fun and effective. These games have helped students practise and refine their skills. It’s been fantastic to see their confidence and problem-solving abilities grow!

INTEGRATED

This term in our Integrated Studies, we’ve been investigating the exciting world of Wild and Wacky Weather! Students have been learning all about the four seasons and the different weather patterns we experience throughout the year. We’ve also looked closely at different types of clouds and discovered how rain is formed. A favourite activity was our rainbow rain experiment—students loved watching how rain falls from the clouds in a colourful and hands-on way. It’s been a fun and fascinating journey into the wonders of weather!
