Bike and Scooter Safety Reminder

Bike and Scooter Safety Reminder
We recently had a visit from local police who raised some important safety concerns about how some of our students are travelling to school. We'd like to take a moment to remind everyone about safe and legal bike and scooter use.
Many students are riding to school without helmets. Not only is this against the law, but it also puts them at serious risk of injury in the event of a fall. Wearing a helmet is a simple but vital step to protect our students' safety.
We’d also like to remind families that:
E-scooters are illegal for anyone under the age of 16 and must not be used to travel to school.
Petrol-powered and modified bicycles are not permitted, as they do not meet road safety standards.
- E-bikes must not exceed 25km/h – anything faster is classified differently and is not legal for general use by students.
To help keep bikes safe during the school day, we strongly encourage families to use a strong bike lock. Unfortunately, we cannot take responsibility for bikes at school, and we have had bikes go missing in the past.
We appreciate your support in helping to keep our students safe and ensuring that everyone is following the law. Together, we can encourage responsible travel to and from school.
