Last week, our Year 11 Hospitality students studying the SIT20316 Certificate II in Hospitality had the exciting opportunity to step out of the classroom and into the fast-paced world of professional hospitality at the Brisbane Racing Club (BRC).
As part of a structured work experience rotation, students were immersed in both front-of-house and back-of-house operations, gaining valuable hands-on experience in a variety of roles. From bar service and function setup to customer service and food preparation, each student had the chance to explore the many facets of the hospitality industry in a real-world setting.
The BRC provided an ideal learning environment, offering students exposure to high-end hospitality operations and the expectations of a professional workplace. Under the guidance of experienced industry mentors, students developed practical skills, built confidence, and deepened their understanding of what it takes to succeed in hospitality.
We would like to sincerely thank Azlan Wan (General Manager – Venue Operations) and his team for so generously accommodating our students into their busy schedules. Their support and mentorship have been invaluable in helping our students gain meaningful industry experience.
This partnership with the Brisbane Racing Club is a key component of our Hospitality program, ensuring students graduate not only with a nationally recognised qualification but also with practical experience that sets them apart.
We are incredibly proud of how our students represented the College and look forward to seeing them continue to grow through these valuable learning opportunities.
