Careers Meetings - Peak Time 

Careers Meetings are at a premium at the moment with Year 12 post-school planning and Year 10 SET Planning. Please note that appointments will be prioritised for Year 12 students. As per previous correspondence, there will not be an opportunity for Pre-SET Planning meetings for Year 10 students and families.

Hunter Leisure is looking for students (15+ years) to sell showbags at the EKKA this year. Shifts are available on weekends and the Public Holiday, with only one shift per day and some days off.

 

Award wages, uniforms, and full training provided - no experience necessary.

TAFE Queensland Holiday Workshops – A Fantastic Opportunity

TAFE Queensland is once again offering their ever-popular School Holiday Workshops – and this year’s program promises to be bigger and better than ever!

 

Running from Tuesday 1 July to Friday 11 July 2025, these hands-on workshops are open to students in Years 9 to 12 and will be held across various Brisbane campuses. Whether your interest lies in technology, the creative industries, health, trades, or hospitality, there’s something to ignite every passion.

 

Each workshop provides a taste of what it’s like to study at TAFE Queensland, while giving students the chance to connect with peers, explore career pathways, and receive a certificate of completion to add to their CVs. It’s a valuable and fun way to spend the school break!

 

Workshop Details:

  • When: 1–11 July 2025
  • Where: Various Brisbane TAFE campuses
  • Time: 8.45am – 4.00pm
  • Cost: $60 for a full day or $40 for a half-day
  • Registrations close: 11.30pm on Tuesday 17 June 2025 (unless sold out earlier!)

Senior students in Years 10–12 are invited to attend Queensland Surveying Unleashed!—a hands-on, career-focused event at the Brisbane Powerhouse on Wednesday, 30 July 2025.

 

Participants will try real surveying equipment, hear from industry professionals, and explore a career that blends technology, maths, and outdoor work.

 

Marist College Ashgrove has been allocated six student places plus one teacher, so interested students should register their interest early.

Powerlink Apprenticeship Applications Now Open

Powerlink's 2026 Apprenticeship Program is now open! 

Opportunities are available across Queensland in the following streams:

  • Substations - Electrical
  • Secondary Systems - Electrical
  • Secondary Systems - Communications & Control
  • Transmission Linesperson

This is a competitive program with over 1500 applicants last year for around 100 positions. Strong communication skills and preparation (including a short video and group interview) are essential.

 

Eligibility: Must be completing Year 12 in 2025 or have already graduated. A Cert II in Electrotechnology is not required to apply.

2025 Brisbane Careers & Employment Expo/Worldskills National Championships: 12 – 14 June

Exciting News! School Registration is now open for The Brisbane Careers & Employment Expo - June 12, 13 & 14, 2025 at the Brisbane Convention Centre. 

 

The event will once again offer free admission and will run for 3 days, allowing schools the flexibility to schedule their excursions on either Thursday or Friday!The Event will be even bigger in 2025 with the Worldskills National Championships running alongside the Expo. 

 

The entire event will take place throughout all of the Exhibition Halls (1-4) so it's going to be huge with a variety of displays, activities, and opportunities to explore, engage and learn throughout the event!

 

What is WorldSkills?

WorldSkills Australia influences, challenges, and supports Australians to develop, recognise and promote skills excellence. 

 

The WorldSkills National Championships is Australia’s biggest vocational education and excellence competition. 

 

They promote skills excellence by delivering skill-based competitions operating at a regional, national and international level.
