Year 9 Level Up Day – Celebrating Connection

On Friday, 23rd of May, our year 9 students participated in the much-anticipated Level Up Day—a special event designed to deepen their connection to school, self, and community.

The day began with two morning sessions that highlighted connection to community and school. Group A engaged in an inspiring Alumni session in the PAC, with former student Chris May who is a Leading Firefighter for Fire Rescue Victoria and also a Sergeant in the Army Reserves. Students also attended a motivational assembly in the C-block Amphitheatre, focusing on school spirit, goals and values.

The energy and reflection continued in Periods 3 and 4, which were all about connection to self. Students rotated through 'Consent Labs' in the PAC, a powerful and interactive session designed to teach about consent and boundaries, and a 'Celebration' session in the Stadium, where students connected through fun, team-building activities that celebrated personal and collective achievements.

The day concluded with the 'Passion Period' in Period 5—an opportunity for students to explore activities and interests that resonate with their personal values and aspirations. This session beautifully tied together all three themes of the day: school, self and community. Students learned how to skateboard, played netball, watched movies or cleaned up Akoonah Park.

A huge thank you to all the staff, alum, guest presenters, and students who made the Year 9 Level Up Day such a success!

Borrowing of sporting equipment at break times (Year level offices)

From now on, borrowing sports equipment (such as balls, bats, etc.) will no longer occur at the PE Office or Foyer. Year 9s can visit C1s to borrow equipment.

Green chronicles A reminder that students can cash in their green chronicles for amazing rewards. A great example of this is Daniel, who cashed in his green chronicles in the 2024 Chronicle Auction to win a pancake breakfast for his whole homegroup! Students can be awarded green chronicles for going above and beyond in their classes and demonstrating the College’s ICARE values.
