Koorie Education

Dreamtime Game
Ms Swain and Ms Rees were lucky enough to attend the Dreamtime game along with eight of our wonderful Koorie students. All students were respectful, kind and demonstrated pride in their Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage.
The pre-game entertainment was marvellous and showcased our proud heritage.
We hope to one day see one of our students up there, loud and proud.
Quarterly Koorie Catch-Up
Students met for our Quarterly Koorie Catch-Up in the Wominjeka Centre where we discussed our what we would like to see achieved before the end of the year. Students painted alongside Ms Swain and Ms Birkett while listening to First Nations music. We hope to continue to meet and work towards a more reconciled school that celebrates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and culture.
Reconciliation Week
Recently we have celebrated National Reconciliation Week. The theme, bridging now to next, asks all people to consider how far we have come, where we currently are and how we continue to fight for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. I would ask that continue to teach kindness, empathy and celebrate the amazing strength and endurance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. We have the oldest living culture in the world and should be proud of it.
