Principal Report

Leading a school culture of high expectations and respectful relationships

Over the course of the past week the principal team attended the government schools' principals conference. The theme of the conference was 'Excellence in Every Classroom'. We were privileged to attend a range of workshops and to hear from some outstanding keynote speakers that reinforced the directions our leadership of Berwick College. We came away motivated and with a range of strategies to inform our next actions in school improvement.

Berwick College continues to hold high expectations for all students in both their learning and in the way they conduct themselves as members of this school community. While it was confronting to see that dysregulated student behaviour has increased across the State, it was also validating to see that our school is an example of positive and innovative response. As a team, we were validated in our leadership of learning and teaching and the rigourous examination of curriculum and instructional practice, always keeping students at the centre of our work.

There have been so many wonderful events over the past three weeks. I sincerely hope that you are able to share in our enjoyment of some of the learning experiences and events that has been captured in this newsletter.
