VET Sports and Recreation - Speaker Incursion
On Monday 31 July, the VET Sports and Recreation class met with dual Paralympian and Olympian, Melissa Tapper who spoke with the students about their current unit of learning, participating in conditioning for fitness. The students heard from Milly about developing resilience and overcoming adversity, how fitness components improve an individual's ability to participate in a wide range of sports and activities, and how to develop motivation and mindset to become a winner.
Milly played table tennis with the class, with some of our students doing well enough to take a couple of points from her on our outdoor table tennis court set up! Milly mentioned she had a great time meeting the students and was impressed with their ability to ask great questions, and allowed the students to hold her Silver medal from the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic games.
We thank Milly and the Victorian Institute of Sport for sending her out, as part of their VIS Be Fit. Be Well speaker series. I am proud of the group for their respectfulness and the quality of their participation throughout the session.
