What's been HAPPENING in Junior School?
On Wednesday 16 August, it was zero degrees before the start of school at LHS, so the girls scrapped off the ice from the horizontal wooden fence logs and made them into snowballs!
Year 7 students practising listening skills with Ms Hemmings in their Thrive class.
7H Science lesson with Ms Smith - Egg Drop Challenge!
On Tuesday 8 August, Year 7 students participated in the Maths Masterclass – Ringo Program at Yarra Ranges Tech School.
The Ringo Program is built around coding, angles and puzzle solving. It is a hands-on program where students use and program their own robot to do a variety of tasks.
The Year 7 students programmed their robot bugs to move. Amazing!!!

Year 8 Captains' Report
Well, Term 3, what a term. So many wonderful things have happened like Book Week, Science Week, the Athletics Carnival, Year 8 Camp, Health & Wellbeing Week and of course the 2023 School Production of Freaky Friday!
The past 6 months have all come together for the production cast to create an amazing production! We had a number of Primary School shows on the days leading up to it, then it was show time! All our night shows sold out, with the matinee coming close. Many thanks and a BIG congratulations to all the students, staff, ex staff and students, and the professionals that came in to make the show happen, and to those that came along too.
For Health and Wellbeing Week, the SRC worked extremely hard to create a wonderful week for students and staff. There were many events held like running, morning yoga, fruit handouts, smoothie making and much more! It was a fun week for all involved and a big thank you to everyone that made it happen!
Year 8 Camp was only a few weeks ago and we got to participate in so many fun outdoor activities. We also all got a chance to compete in our Houses at the Athletics Carnival. I know I loved competing, and the weather was great for us too. Some students went through to Division for their events. It was so much fun competing against other schools.
We also had 'Book Week' this term where a special reading area was set up in Room 10 and 11 and everyone got a chance to visit the room and have a teacher read them a book. Some classes were lucky enough to have Bridget Vallence MP come in and read “The Hobbit” and Aaron Violi MP. There were also many other fun activities in Book Week including, a sausage sizzle and cupcakes made by the Year 9’s, Book Trivia Competition, Book Costume Day, handmade bookmarks and a second-hand book sale with all the raised funds going to Reading Out of Poverty.
So far, this term has been great and it’s still not over. We cannot wait to see what the next couple of weeks, and Term 4 give us.

Parent Meetings with a Coordinator
Just a friendly reminder that if you are wishing to meet with a Coordinator, please call the Junior School Office to make an appointment.
Our Coordinators are often teaching or dealing with student issues and may not be available without prior arrangement.
Students Needing to Leave School Early
For various reasons you may require your child to leave school early on a particular day. We recommend appointments be made where possible outside of school hours to minimise the impact on your child’s learning and the disruption to classes.
If you require to collect your child, please send a note with your child, log onto Compass or leave a message on the Junior School Early Leavers voicemail. Students are responsible for collecting an Early Leavers Pass from the Junior School Office before Home Group or at recess.
Please note, that if an Early Leavers Pass is not prior arranged, due to students attending class in various areas around the school, prompt collection of students by staff is not always possible. Parents are not to collect students from classrooms.
End of Term
Locks on Lockers
Please ensure your child has a locked padlock on their locker prior to the end of term. A number of valuable items are often left in students’ lockers, and it is imperative that students lock their padlock on their locker to ensure items do not go missing.
Please check that your child has a working padlock to avoid any future issues.
