Visual Art

We’ve had another very busy week in Art. Foundation to grade two students had a very fun time cutting up pre-printed mouths and eyes to create zany collages or all sorts of creatures.

There seemed to be an emerging trend for taped and painted works amongst our senior artists. Lots of Father’s Day banners resulted….Hopefully Clio’s dad doesn’t have time to read the newsletter before Sunday this week! #shhhhh.

In the Art program we don’t pressure students to produce finished pieces. The journey is always equal or more important than the destination. Archie chose to immerse himself in a moment of line drawing, with no particular destination in mind and discovered the pleasure of letting the line take him wherever it wanted to go! Archer B-S was also immersed in his drawing today but was grappling with wanting more realism in his work. Two different experiences using the same medium. Exploration is EVERYTHING.
