Principal's Report
Dear Parents,
Writers’ Festival – 3:30pm – 5:45pm – Thursday 7th September
We welcome you all to come and celebrate with us next Thursday afternoon, the 7th of September. We’re showcasing our amazing student writing for you all and welcome you to come and see what our students have been working so hard on this term. Our classrooms, the JCB and hallways will be filled with writing on display between 3:30pm and 5:45pm next Thursday the 7th of September. We look forward to seeing you there.
OSHC – Support
We are seeking expressions of interest from casual staff to support our after-school hours care team in term four 2023 and the 2024 school year. We are planning to bolster the team numbers to provide care to our students in outside school hours care. If you know of anyone in the area who is seeking casual work and has an interest in working with children, please encourage them to email the school macedon.ps@education.vic.gov.au . The service operates between 7:00am and 9:00am in the morning and 3:30pm and 6:30pm in the evening. University students studying teaching or early childhood education as well as diploma educated individuals looking to move into the caring sector would be great candidates, but if you feel someone else with a caring and student-centred disposition would be interested, please encourage them to get in touch with the school.
Book Week – Fancy dress parade
Thank you for all your effort in preparing your children for the annual book week parade last Thursday. It was another fun filled day and celebration of books and our favourite book characters. Creativity is one of our school values and was at the forefront of mind last Thursday. Please see some photos of the parade in the newsletter
Parent Opinion Survey – Closes Friday 8th of September
You will have received your unique link to the parent opinion survey via email recently. The survey is open until the 8th of September. Currently we have around 16% of parents who have filled in the survey. Your insights support us to drive positive change for your child's education and those who come after you. Thank you in advance.
Working Bee – This Saturday - 2nd September 9am-11am – Bourke and Curtin House Families
The school council is committed to enhancing our community connections this year and we have re-formed our building and grounds team and will be hosting a working bee each term for the remainder of the year. The next working-bee will be held on Saturday the 2nd of September between 9am and 11am with a morning tea provided at 11am. We’re planning to plant out and mulch the front garden beds in front of the main school building and down the side with ground covers. Other tasks that we hope to achieve are tidying up the yard, weeding and mulching gardens, ivy removal and blackberry removal.
We are inviting the families of children in Bourke and Curtin House to come in term three and families of Hume and Mitchell to join us in late October, term four. If you’re up for attending both, you’re more than welcome.
Sun Smart – Please pack your child’s hat - 1st September
Our sun smart policy kicks back into gear this Friday with the onset of Spring. It’s often at this time of the year that we get the odd warmer day and our students come in looking rosy around the cheeks. Students will be required to wear hats if outside during lunch and recess from Friday morning.
