Assistant Principal Curriculum and Instruction

It has been a busy term at Oak Flats Public School! Over the past 10 weeks I have:

• Led professional learning on the new 3-6 English and Mathematics Syllabuses which will be implemented in 2024. This has given teachers a strong understanding of changes ready for planning in Term 4.
• Worked with Stage 2 and 3 teachers and students to develop reading fluency skills. Students have identified fluency goals which they track in fluency pairs by giving direct feedback.
• Collaborated with Kindergarten and Stage 1 teachers to create English and Mathematics units of work and teaching resources. This has meant teaching experiences are tailored to the exact needs of our student cohorts.
• Met with teachers across the school to analyse literacy and numeracy data for targeted teaching cycles to improve student learning outcomes.

I am looking forward to continuing to work with teachers to plan for 2024 and can’t wait to get back into classrooms as I start team-teaching writing.
