Dear parents, carers and community
Can you believe it is Week 10? This term has been another busy one with so many wonderful achievements across the school, in literacy, numeracy, performing arts, sport, public speaking and much, much more.
A highlight for many of our students was the Spring Festival. Thank you to the wonderful team of P&C and staff who planned, prepared, and delivered the most wonderful community event for our school. The role our P&C plays in our school is significant and valued. The intention to support our community, work behind the scenes, as well as the hours spent volunteering on the day is second to none. Thank you!
A special shout out to Bec Cheetham, from our P&C, and Emily Chatterton, who led this event to provide this experience for our students and community. The hours they spent, along with all the volunteers and staff, was remarkable and very much appreciated. Thank you to Sarah Blaker and the canteen staff for providing delicious treats and cold drinks, and the many hours spent ordering, baking, preparing and serving.
Thank you also to all of our community for showing up or supporting in whatever way they could. It was such a lovely atmosphere, one that shows the beautiful community spirit of Oak Flats. It certainly was brilliant day!
Congratulations to all the students who represented our school at the final of our Community of Schools (CoS) Public Speaking Competition, which was held at Balarang Public School last week. The standard of public speaking from across our CoS was outstanding. Congratulations to Addison B and Sienna F who won their stage competition. Thanks you to the families who supported, as well as Mrs Hudson and Miss Hamilton who helped fine tune speeches for the final.
The next General Meeting for the AECG is Thursday 26 October, and will be hosted here at Oak Flats Public School. We are really proud to be host this event here and excited to showcase our school and our work towards supporting the individual needs of our Aboriginal students and families, as well as Aboriginal Education for all students within our school.
The final two days of Term 4 are scheduled for School Development Days (pupil free days), so teachers can participate in professional learning. Our school has applied to vary the dates and times of these days and will instead complete these professional learning hours after school, during twilight sessions of an evening. Although this will have no impact on families and students, it will mean our school will be closed on the final two School Development Days (pupil free days) on Monday 18 and Tuesday 19 December.
Congratulations to all our students on another wonderful term of learning. This Friday is the final day of Term 3, with students returning to school on Monday 9 October. We hope everyone has a wonderful holiday break and we look forward to seeing everyone in Term 4.
Kind regards
Jodi Niedermayer
